Free Music Review: "MARCH ON MARCH ON MARCH ON!"
Hit: 5 Stars

That is A Modest Mouse Album. Great stuff. It starts off great and it ends great. Issac Brock walks the line between just utter trash and genius so many times, and so many times he succeeds brilliantly.

March Into The Sea 5/5-Great track, it deserves a 5 just for Issack's pychotic laughter throughout the whole thing. This is vintage MM, its crazy and fast, then it slows down, then ends with an amazing drum solo and the yell, "MARCH ON, MARCH ON, MARCH ON!" This is one of my favorite tracks on the whole album, Brock just lets loose on this and is fantastic.

Dashboard 5/5-I loved "FLOAT ON" and I love this, for those of you who are worried that the album is poppy and too mainstream forget it. This is one of, I'd say, 2 poppy songs, and there both great. Great, fun song.

Fire It Up 5/5-Love it. Its great. I mean where else can you get the lyrics, "FIRE IT UP" yelled loudly combined with lyrics like these, "IT HONESTLY WAS BEAUTIFULLY DONE, LIKE TRYING TO SAVE AN ICE CUBE FROM THE COLD". The vocals are superb, now any fan of MM knows that Brock's voice isn't pretty or wonderfully pitched. But it blends in with the song and his guitar so well that its more perfect than any other singer.

Florida 4.5/5-Another great song, loud and angry at the beginning and end and thoughtful in the middle. It ends a bit too abruptly for me, but once again, this is MM going back to there roots. I also love the background vocal by James Mercer. Awesome.

Parting of the Sensory 4/5-Morbid and yet strangely beautiful. It starts out great but slows a bit in the middle, its still a very good song that is old school MM.

Missed the Boat 5/5-Fantastic. This song really kicks into full swing at the 3:20 mark until the end. I mean, hearing Brock sing, "SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE" in that low, crazy voice is awesome, again the background vocals
are great and this song actually tells a story. Loved it.

We've got Everything 5/5-Again great lyrics and background vocals. More thoughtful and wondering, its great. Looking back at something and regretting. At the 2:00 to the 2:45 mark Brock turns it on and totally blew me away, not with his loud yelling, but with his restraint and confidence. This song shows how far MM has come since the beginning.

Fly Trapped in a Jar 3/5 -Starts off buzzing(Literally) and gets off to a nice start with Brock giving us his low voice singing, "ONE WING ISN'T EVEN ENOUGH" but it seems to be lacking lyrically and Brock's voice is almost annoying as he continues throughout the song. Not very good, filler song.

Education 2.5/5-Ouch. Two worst songs of the album back to back. Brock gives it his all but I just didn't feel this track. He has done much better.

Little Motel 5/5-Wow. I kept waiting for Brock to unleash his yell but he never does. This is a great ballad about love and being sorry. I was stunned when I heard these lyrics, "I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and I'm very sorry". Its great and even better because its Brock singing it, his voice really sounds great throughout the whole song, the refrain wore on a bit but overall this is a great love song. Kind of like "SLEEPWALKIN'" except much, much better.

Steam Engenius 4/5-Haha. Crazy song. Brock almost Raps in parts of it, it combines a ton of different elements and it somehow works. Not the best and it seems a bit like filler, it kind of reminded me of "ALL NITE DINER" its not as good as that song but it does bring back memories.

Spitting Venom 4.5/5-Great. It starts off like some wierd western song and quickly turns into a classic MM. Crazy guitar riffs, great lyrics, everything is great. The only problem for me was that this is over 8:00 minutes and it just seemed to long, otherwise its a great song.

People As Places As People 5/5-Another great song. Everything clicks and this song is much better than I thought at first. The Lyrics are great, like most of Brock's but I especially liked these.

Invisible 3.5/5-Fun, loud, song. The ending was a bit disappointing and it didn't seem to go anywhere, not good, but not horrible either.

Overall Modest Mouse has returned to form, this is much better than "GOOD NEWS" which I liked. It just seemed to clean and professional, Modest Mouse has always been crazy and fun and when you here Brock laughing and going, "CLANG CLANG, CLANG CLANG, CLANG CLANG" on MARCH INTO THE SEA you'll know that Modest Mouse is back. Buy this on Tuesday. Not as good as some of there earlier work, but its definatly great. Not too Mainstream and not too crazy Modest Mouse has created another unique and beautiful album.
