Everyone that says "It doesn't sound like Headquarters" is missing the point. Did you really expect Nez to do the time machine thing? Not too damn likely. What you have here is 4 grown men who have all gone their separate ways writing what is important to them in the 90's. Admiral Mike gets a lot of negative remarks. The issue was very important to Nez and he makes his point. It's a better song on the shallowness of journalism than Henleys Dirty Laundry. Mickeys songs are a highlight. Most of them are about relationships and let's face it even Mickeys take on a relationship is different than it was 35 years ago. Regional Girl is a great song and would have made a great single. Why Rhino chose to ignore it and promote NONE of the songs as singles is a mystery to me. The big question is why did Rhino leave all the promotion for this album to the fans (i.e. the great Rhino Justus fan promotion contest) instead of doing the work themselves? I heven't seen anyone mention Nez's guitar but it absolutely Rocks! Right after the album came out I sent a note to Nez asking about musician credits, figuring Peter must have played some guitar. His response Nez - Guitar, Peter - Bass, Mick - Drums, Davy - Percussion. So apparently Nez is the one rocking out. The biggest surprise to me is David's "It's not too late". Not a huge fan of Jones ballads I was blown away by this song. The harmonies from Nez and Mickey are outstanding. Another great track that deserves to be heard. This isn't the 60's, but this is a great album, I'm sorry the reunion crashed before I got to see the four live, but I got a lot more than I thought I would ever see. So buy this because it's JUSTUS and don't go looking for Headquarters II. |
