Free Music Review: Totally Outstanding !!!
Hit: 4 Stars

This album is the absolute best way to celebrate the group's 30th anniversary. The MONKEES, who started in 1966, appear to get together every 10 years for projects that keep getting better and better.

In 1976, Dolenz & Jones teamed with Monkees' songwriters/producers Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart for a foursome with a self-titled album.

In 1986 it was Mickey, Davy & Peter with the album Pool It.

Now in 1996 it's all four of the original Monkees (including Mike Nesmith) here where they wrote all of the songs, play all of the instruments, and produced the entire album. The best songs are You And I (a re-make form the 1976 Dolenz Jones Boyce & Hart album); Never Enough; Oh What A Night; and It's Not Too Late. The only down-fall here is the lack of pictures of the Monkees as they look today. The photos on the cover and inserts are too small and too few, but that flaw is not enough to keep this from being a great album.

Let's hope for another project for their 40th in 2006.

Free Music Review: Talk about mixed reviews!

Well, it's no HEAD or PAC&J, but JUSTUS has its moments. I just wish there were more songs by Mike. Only two? Out of what? Twelve? "Circle Sky" and "Admiral Mike" (I don't get the title) are by far the best tracks. Peter's tracks, "I Believe You" and the one about running away from life (I forgot the title, and the album isn't nearby) are great too. But I think Mickey and Davey kinda took over where I thought Mike and Peter should've had a little more imput. Peter and Mike each only sing one track and each only write two. I thought they were supposed to be the "musical Monkees." I could've done with fewer gushy love songs and more "Admiral Mike"-type songs. Anyhoo, it's still a great album, I think, though many disagree, and any die-hard Monkees fan like myself should buy it.

Free Music Review: it's the monkees what else could you expect
Hit: 4 Stars

people tend to pan this album about the monkees trying too hard to be a 90's sounding band.this is not the case this is a reunion album of the four original monkees they did this before something unfourtunate happened to one of them.the tried hard they probably didn't succeed but
they tried.it really isn't a bad effort there are some decent tracts such as YOU AND I,REGINONAL GIRL,even IT'S MY LIFE,and davy's ITS NOT TOO LATE
but in this case it was too late.MIKE should have been involved in 1986
when the band first came back this might have sold and gotten them some respect but the poor PREFAB FOUR couldn't be so lucky.hey hey its the MONKEES once you accept that it really isn't a bad effort.

Free Music Review: Listen To The Band
Hit: 4 Stars

I've listened to this CD on numerous occasions, and the more I listen to it, the more I appreciate it. For the fans of classic Monkees' music, this CD may not be for you because it carries a very modern sound and edge to it. This is a labor of love produced and written exclusively by Mike, Mickey, Davy, and Peter, hence the title. The updated version of "Circle Sky" catches you off guard at first because of the industrial strength electric guitars, but the purpose of the track is clear. These Monkees are in it to win it. Unfortunately, this disc is probably the swan song of this group. If that is the case, then I, as a diehard fan of this group, proclaim it a triumph.

Free Music Review: Great to have all 4 back again!!
Hit: 4 Stars

On a whole, I realy liked this album aside from such insipid tracks as "Admiral Mike" "Broken Heart" "Oh What a Night" and "Lucky Stars". Circle Sky and Never Enough were a great way to start the album. Even Davy has 2 good tracks in "Its Not too Late" and "You and I". Peter does good as well with his 2 songs. But this album needed a little more of Nesmith tracks (perhaps a remake of Mary Mary or an unreleased gem). Regional Girl, a departure from them, is good as well. Lets get some more magic from all 4 real soon!!! Are ya listening Mike????
