in the great box set. As you may know, this box set replaces the inferior 1991 "Listen To The Band" box set.My favorites: The Girl I Knew Somewhere (this is like The Monkees "Strawberry Fields" where they prepare the audience of whats to come -- HEADQUARTERS). For Pete's Sake (the best I've heard from them on instruments), Randy Scouse Git, Salesman, Daily Nightly, well...if youthink about it, all of CD 2 is the cream of the Monkees. Great material. All of the music is worthy of many enjoyable listens. And like 1 person pointed out, The Monkees' music is happy, party-like music. I like to listen to them with the windows open on a sunny day, driving down the highway. I'd like to add: As another reviewer on here mentioned, the plastic mounts or holders that hold the CDs comes apart from the box. I just had gotten the thing and the mount that holds CD 1 came unstuck to the box. I bought the thing probably earlier last year and all of the mounts have come undone, so not a good "paste" to use for these mounts or holders. Great stuff!!!
Free Music Review: PERFECT FOR THE ULTIMATE MONKEES FAN!!! Hit: 5 Stars
This collection is so incredibly awesome! There is no Monkees album quite like it. It has all of their chart-topping hits, PLUS the songs that should've been chart-topping hits, PLUS the songs that people hardly remember! The tracks go in the order they were released so when you listen to the set, you feel as though you're following the Monkees journey all over again! The tacks sound absolutely incredible! Plus, there are different versions of your favorite tracks, some you may not ever have heard! The booklet inside the boxed set is absolutely amazing, jam packed with tons of photos, quotes, and stories of... the MONKEES of course! The 97 pages tell the Monkees' story so honestly and completely, it's very impressive! Not only is their history included but also a complete track list, what they and the songwriters had to say about each Monkee song included, and a select album discography! This set is for any Monkees fan but if you're truly dedicated to the original "boy band" you must buy this boxed set! It's far out!!
Free Music Review: A Monkees Marathon Hit: 5 Stars
I was looking for a Monkees compilation that contained all of their hits, popular songs, and the better of their non-45 released album tracks -- and I didn't want a compilation that was filled with so-so "filler" songs or live versions (because live versions tend to be much faster and generally omit the little nuances) -- and this compilation was just what I was looking for. Not only does it contain all of their hits and popular songs, but it also has a number of their 45s better-type "B-side" songs and the best of their non-45 released album tracks. And though it does contain a limited number of "fillers", even those are catchy likable tunes. I would definitely recommend The Monkees "Music Box" to anyone who is a Monkees music fan looking for all their hits and favorites in one collection.
Free Music Review: An utmost awsome 5 Stars
This set is an inceredible display of how awsome and talendted The Monkees truly are. Music Box is a revised version of Listen to the Band but much much better. If you are not planning on getting this set because you have Listen to the Band, quit thinking that way. First of all, unlike Listen to the Band box set, you get 99 tracks and the book is awsome with tons of never vefore seen pictures of the pre fab four. May I also say that the actual discs have pretty cool designs on them to. The only thing I dont understand is why would they put "Oh, What a Night" instead of Regional Girl? That minor little thing aside, this set is awsome and I cant wait to see The Monkees in march
Free Music Review: MONKEELICIOUS BOX SET!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I had the LTTB box set, but when this came out I just had to get it. The sound is improved & the track selection is basically the same, although Music Box does have 19 more tunes. The book is nice, but so was the one from LTTB.(The poster in LTTB was really cool.) And yes, the packaging is less than stellar for Music Box. One of the cd holders popped off the other night. But overall, this is a fascinating collection, covering all of the Monkees' highs & lows, with plenty of great music. So if you need a major Monkee fix, I suggest you get this now!
