Free Music Notes for Monty Python's Spamalot (2005 Original Broadway Cast)Free Music Review: Classic Monty Python Hit: 5 Stars
Irreverant. Brash. Naughty. Satirical. That just about sums up Monty Python in general, and even though this soundtrack was produced during the 21st century, it just as well could have settled for a Python classic of the 1970's. Every aspect of this musical- from the musical numbers "He Is Not Dead Yet", "Find Your Grail" "Finland/The Fish Schlapping Dance", and "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life", to the re-enactment of Monty Python and The Holy Grail, to the acting on Tim Curry's part- is absoloutly hilarious. The cast is talented, first of all, and the singing is amazing. A non-talented cast can always throw the musical off, but the actors really fit the character that they're playing. Sure, Tim Curry's not Graham Chapman, but he's close. The show is also very well-written; and by Python veteran Eric Idle himself! A few of the songs are taken from the original movie (Sir Robin, The Monk Song, Knights of The Round Table), but they're updated a bit, and there are also a lot of original songs; one of my personal favorites is "Whatever Happened To My Part", a laugh-out-loud outlook on the show from the point of view of the Lady Of The Lake.
This CD is well worth the money, and if I could, I'd give it more than five stars. The only thing that's missing are tickets to see Spamalot live, which I have yet to see...so sad.

Buy it. It will have you coming to in a hospital bed asking "What happened" and them replying "You almost died of laughter"
Sara Rameriz was the best vocalist I have ever heard. Every time I hear the song "Find Your Grail" (especially the ending)I get chills. She has such a powerfull voice.
Hank Azaria was also brilian as the homicidally brave Sir Lancelot (yes Lance is gay). For saying that he just tries to sing along as best he can, he does a heck of a job.
Tim Curry was truly funny. His line at the end of act one was hysterical (if you know the plot from the movie)
King Arthur: We're stuck in a nasty position
Why don't you take a short intermission
Have a drink and a pee
We'll be back for Act Three!
Patsy: Two sir.
King Arthur: Two-----
D.H Pierce was astonishing as The Not so brave as Sir Lancelot, Sir Robbin. I loved him in "You Won't Succeed on Broadway"
As for the rest of the cast:
-The Strangely Flatulent Sir Bedivere
-The Dashingly Handsome Sir Galahad
-Prince Herbert/Historian/"Old Coot"/et. all
THEY WERE BRILLIANT! If you enjoy theater, you'll enjoy this show.

I read about it on the grapevine while exploring other Broadway shows, and Boy oh boy. I am so happy i got to see it. I bought the tickets only a few weeks before the tony's and obviously after the tony's it sold out faster then free money. Of course Hank Azaria was not there when i saw it, his replacement Alyn Tudack i think is his name, who played Steve the Pirate in dodgeball. David Hydew Pierce was also out that day but Tim Curry was there. and Being a Rocky Horror Picture Show Fanatic it was good enough for me. Sara Ramirez was there after being gone for awhile due to illness. And Christian Borle from those annoying singing EBAY commercials. But I got his signature along with Alyn. I got the tickets before the Soundtrack. But when i did Order the album and ran through it quickly i was very unimpressed. But trust me give it some thought and lighten up its a riot. Of course i didnt laugh at most of the songs on the soundtrack, But LIVE it was totally different. It gave me the feeling that life could not get any better. I give the soundtrack 5 Stars. and just on a side note I spend more money on Spamalot Merchandise then the Tickers. But trust me the soundtrack is not enough go ALL THE WAY and see it in NYC!
Free Music Review: Dangerous to drive with! Hit: 5 Stars
Being a Monty Python fan from my youth, and a die-hard broadway and musical theater nut, I had great expectations for Spamalot. With a cast including David Hyde Pierce, Hank Azaria and Tim Curry, I was fairly drooling in anticipation. Still, I was in no way prepared for the fact that every single phrase of every single song has something for the learned Monthy Python devotee. From the million little winks and asides to the audience, the hilarious lyrics, and the brilliant song styles that parody themselves before your very ears, this show has it all. The very moment the CD arrived in my mailbox, I dashed to my computer to load the songs into my iPod, and then foolishly tried to commute to work while listening. It's very hard to drive with tears streaming down one's face and laughing convulsively and I dare say I presented a significant danger to those sharing the road with me that day. If you are a Monthy Python freak like me, there is much to love about Spamalot, and I highly recommend it.
Of course, if you haven't seen the show yet, there's much more as the show deftly skewers all the mores of broadway and musical theatre as a genre. Buy the CD, see the show and laugh your kneecaps off.
Free Music Review: Get ready to laugh until you cry! Hit: 5 Stars
Being in the unfortunate position of living in a country where Music Theatre is virtually dead, I thought `what the heck' I'll purchase this just to see what it's like. I've never been a huge Holy Grail fan, and have only seen the movie one or two times. This musical is the first musical cast recording that has an independent storyline that you can actually gauge from the recording. It's so refreshing to actually WANT to listen to the entire recording from start to finish more than a handful of times. Most musicals have a few awesome songs that have you keep coming back for more but this musical has so much continuity that I can't help but listen from start to finish.
Don't read what some of the other commenter's have written. This is brilliant and hilarious. And if you have a slightly warped sense of humour you'll love (and appreciate) this musical so much more.
P.S. I love the songs that reference "The song that goes like this." This is supposed to be repetitive to mock its self and Broadway. It is also more comprehensive than some may lead you to believe... however just remember its called `Spamalot' not `Holy Grail' so don't expect too many Holy Grail references.
