Free Music Notes for Monty Python's Spamalot (2005 Original Broadway Cast)Free Music Review: What on Earth will gay men do now? Hit: 5 Stars
If we can't have a full Python project (and with one in the dustbin, how can we), thank God, the nudge-nudge, wink-wink one of them has managed to pull together enough of the energy, wit, ribald humour, and quite clever songs to conquer NYC. More devastating than a flock of Al Qaeyda hijackers, Eric Idle's usurpation of the funny bits across the Python panarama are brilliantly on target. Curry, Hyde Pearce, and the entire cast are perfect. The songs are great tunes with Eric's notoriously irreverent assaults on Jewish impressarios, British royalty, chivalric virtues, and indeed gay men enamoured with show tunes. I have not seen the play yet, and if it continues to outsell all expectations, I may have to settle for a second cast in Philadelphia, but the disc in and of itself is a must have for Idle Python fans, and for anyone who wonders whatever happened to Broadway, Mel Brooks notwithstanding.
I have left instructions for a chorus to deliver "The Song That goes Like This" at my own memorial, and you would be well-advised to do the same at your weddings, confirmations, bar and batmiztvahs, garden parties. All that's missing is a dead bishop on the landing, but then no one ever expects....

many python fans have said tha this show isn't very python and the song's are flat, but I completly disagree I think it's funny and a great show, and yes I have been a python fan since birth.
just a side note.
Sarah Remirez should play Elphaba next in Wicked on Broadway, i'm just saying.
Free Music Review: Incredible! Hysterical! Hit: 5 Stars
I grew up watching "Monty Python's Flying Circus," and not to mention "Fawlty Towers," so I am a HUGE fan of anything Python.
I was thrilled to hear that Eric was creating a musical of "Holy Grail."
When I purchased "Spamalot" I listened to it, and was laughing out loud!
I listened to it again in the car in the back seat, when my Mom happened to ask, "Am I laughing?" as she happened to see me shaking, but no noise!
Sara Ramirez, the lady who plays 'The Lady of the Lake' impressed me to the ends of the earth with her vocalizing!
In the song "nights of the Round Table/The Song That Goes Like This (Reprise)" Sara scats like she should be Mel Torme, sounds like Judy Garland [or Celine Dion as someone thought], and a couple of other incredible vocalists that I have yet to identify.
So while I was watching the Tony Awards, I was THRILLED beyond words that she won for Featured Actress in a Musical!
I will report more later about the show itself as I have a ticket for the Matinee on 7/16... I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!
Free Music Review: Very funny lytics and enchanting music Hit: 5 Stars
Even if you haven't seen this show, you'll find the CD very funny. It actually captures and delivers the farsical spirit of the musical. The introductory "Tuning" theme is very, very brief, yet it inmediately invites the listeners to a world of music and laughter. Spoof is present in most of the lyrics, which makes fun of the times of King Arthur and of the conventionalities of the musical genre. The songs are quite catchy and melodious and the voices, terrific, specially Sara Ramirez who sings The Lady of the Lake parts. The album brings a libretto that helps a lot to follow the jokes and second reading of the lyrics. Even the cover design is cute and farcical. After the grand finale with the company bow, you have another surprise - no longer than a few seconds - which closes up brilliantly that "bright side of Life". If you want to spend a wonderful time listening to a most amusing musical, don't miss this one. For Broadway show collectors, it is an absolute MUST.
Free Music Review: Oh my god! The music rocks is fantastic! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this CD first thing it came out and I can't get enough of it! The singers rock! At first, if you read the song list, you're like "Well..." but I swear, it's really really good. This makes Forbidden Broadway look like a freak show this is the bomb! Even better than the Producers, man. This one is the one to get. My favorites are:
.Always look on the Bright side of life [Basically the song of the show]
.Run away [Take a drink and a pee and we'll get back to act 3 "2 sir" 2...]
.Act 2 Finale [Lady and Arthur ROCK!]
.Knights of the round table (Spamalot)
And "I am not dead yet"
These are classic songs and this will turn out to be a classic show. This is my favorite Broadway Cast Album [Yep, it even tops Les Mis!!!] I reccomend it for everyone: For Python fans, for theatre fans, for Tim Curry fans, even for non-musical freaks this good for everyone. Highly reccomended!
