Free Music Notes for Monty Python's Spamalot (2005 Original Broadway Cast)

Free Music Review: One of the Greatest Musicals of all time
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been a Python fan since the 1970's. If you are not familiar with their humor, it runs the gambit from incedibly silly to very dry. Very often it pokes fun at life in Great Britain, so Americans tend to get lost. Spamalot spoofs the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and their quest for the Holy Grail. It is one of the funniest musicals I have ever seen. I had the good fortune to see the original cast on Broadway. I even got to meet David Hyde Pierce. After seeeing this wonderful show, I had to buy the sound track so I could enjoy the songs over and over again. If you are not a fan of Monty Python, you may not enjoy the humor. If you are, you are in for a treat. Beware the Knights who say "nee".

Free Music Review: My Killer Rabbit and I LOVE this CD!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

My killer Rabbit "Fang" and I saw the show off-Broadway in Boston and absolutely laughed liked we hadn't laughed in ages -- middle ages that is!!! Fang especially enjoyed the show and the role played in the show by his distant cousin -- Peter "Scarface" Bunny. Although, Scarface's role was brief, Fang and I listen to the CD over and over again to remember fondly the show, and of course Scarface. You see, since bunnies are a dime a dozen, well, each bunny can only play the role once (for obvious reasons...). It was Scarface's only performance but we enjoyed him after the show at Jacob Wirth's where he was served properly with a very cold dark German beer. I guess Jacob Wirth's really did BRING OUT THE DEAD. ;-)

Free Music Review: Don't run away!
Hit: 5 Stars

I am not going to see the live show until December 17, but I've had this soundtrack for weeks and cannot stop listening to it. It captures the irreverent comedy of Monty Python with some wonderful additions. The soundtrack is well done and I had to see the show with the original cast because of it. Sara Ramirez is particularly wonderful. Some of the songs I can't stop singing:

Find Your Grail
His Name is Lancelot
Always look on the Bright Side of Life
Run Away!
You Won't Succeed on Broadway
Diva's Lament

But the whole soundtrack is great - there's not a single song I skip - no matter how many times I've listened to it!

Free Music Review: SIMPLY AMAZING!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been a fan of Monty Python, Eric Idle, & John Cleese ever since the first time I saw "The Quest for The Holy Grail" and "The Meaning of Life" years ago, and am also a long time lover of classic Broadway musicals. When I first heard about this opening on Broadway all I could do was think to myself, "You have got to be kidding me!" Personally I didn't think it would turn out to be as huge as it has become, but like the movie that "Spamalot" is derived from it's here to stay. The cast is simply amazing, and I very highly recommend this to anyone who is a Monty Python fan, a musical lover, or for anyone else who just needs a good belly laugh. LONG LIVE THE KING!!

Free Music Review: I listen to Spamalot Alot!
Hit: 5 Stars

Spamalot is an amazing CD! So similar to the movie, (it even has the song Brave Sir Robin, which is from the movie!) this is such a fun CD!

The cast is phenomonal, and I've found it to be a great CD to put on when I can't decide on what to listen to!

The songs are meant to be fun and light- and they are- but, laugh if you will, I've found Find Your Grail to be rather inspiring.

Find what will make you happiest is the theme of the musical, and Tim Curry's exceptional performance may even exceed Rocky Horror!

Be sure to listen to I'm All Alone!

Happy Listening and Laughing!
