Free Music Notes for Monty Python's Spamalot (2005 Original Broadway Cast)

Free Music Review: Python on Broadway - The Quest is Complete
Hit: 5 Stars

How can you go wrong? Tim Curry as King Arthur. With the goofiest group of knights ever - Hank Azaria and David Hyde Pierce in tights! And the raunchiest Lady of the Lake and her Pep Squad.

This is the Python crew at its best. I always knew Eric Idle was a genius. The music is not only funny, but singable! Lots of old favorites and some pretty clever new stuff too. I love that the play is so self-conscious. The Lady's 2nd act song about not being on stage recently is priceless.

Oh to be back in New York again! I can't wait for the road show. Anyone who loves Monty Python must add this to their collection!

Free Music Review: Silliness of the First Order
Hit: 5 Stars

This recording came highly recommended (even before I knew Tim Curry plays Arthur). True, I'm a fan of Holy Grail, and the best of Python ... so take this review as preaching from the converted.
Clever, irreverent, and, if you have teens (especially theatrical teens -- I've been transporting a car full back and forth to a Theater Workshop), relinquish your CD player to their skipping to favorites. But if you end up playing it for yourself, and, more, singing along, consider that you were warned. Because I just warned you.
And now, because I'm Not Dead Yet, and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life... it's time to Run Away.

Free Music Review: Hilarious!
Hit: 5 Stars

This original cast album is absolutely hilarious! I purchased it because I will be attending a Broadway performance of Spamalot in April, and I wanted to get an idea of what to expect when I see the show live! Of course, I've been a fan of Monty Python humor for a long time, and loved the original movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, that this show is "lovingly" based on! The actors in the original Spamalot case are mad talented, and I'm excited about seeing this show live! I highly recommend this album for anyone looking for a taste of this high-energy and just plain silly-funny show!

Free Music Review: I sent it to the wrong address...never heard another word.
Hit: 5 Stars

I ordered this to be sent to a friend in Colorado, who had moved several years ago and had never mentioned it. When I didn't hear from him, I called and asked if he'd received it...he hadn't. Whoever lives there now is probably enjoying a free Spamalot CD. Would have been nice if they'd returned it, but such is life. Anyway, I assume the dealer sent it as requested and I can't fault them for my own dumb mistake, so I'm giving the dealer the benefit of a doubt with a 5-star rating. It's a GREAT musical with really fun songs. Saw it on stage last month and it was one of my all-time favorite shows.

Free Music Review: Hail to the King
Hit: 5 Stars

For the vast majority of us who've never seen the Broadway production (myself included) it matters not. Just as in the film, it is certainly still a good day to 'eat ham and jam and spam alot'.

The tale has a new spin to it differing greatly from the film but remains a delightful and often silly journey. Alas, no flesh eating bunnies or Knights Who Say Ni for you in this soundtrack. The new ballad of Sir Robin more than makes up for this, not to mention the Lady of the Lake and 'The Laker Girls'. Yes sports fans, it shall be just as the name suggests and quite good no less.
