Free Music Notes for CharangoFree Music Review: Charango is Sweet and Chilled Hit: 5 Stars
Charango is my first Morcheeba buy and I am not disappointed with any of the lucious, sugary tracks. The first I had heard of Morcheeba was "Rome Wasn't Built In a Day" from Fragments of Freedom and absolutely fell in love with Skye's vocals. Charango only has solidified my new found love for Morcheeba. I am not usually into rap but the tracks "Charango", "Women Lose Weight" (one of my personal favourites), and "Get Along" keep the album from becoming just another album. Some might find "Women Lose Weight" disturbing or odd but when you listen to the story it's actually a really amusing story of a man who wants to kill his wife. It's fun and reminisent of early rap or if you will the fun of a Sir Mix-a-Lot song. But the sweetest moment's come from the laid back tracks. "What New York Couples Fight About", and "Sao Paulo" had me won over and hitting repeat the first time I heard them. "Otherwise", and "Aqualung" are inspired and "Undress Me Now" is just a sexy awesome piece. It's a really great album for getting in any mood, whether for partying or just any kind of fun. It's one of the best album's I have ever heard and I highly recommend.
Free Music Review: WOW... Hit: 5 Stars
Every once in a while, an album comes along that can truly b e said to be perfect, and i believe Charango is one of them. ... this album is flawless from start to finish. Charango, the title track harkens back to the days of "Big Calm", a sultry hip song with some rap mixed in, it is my favorite song on the album. but one of my favorites is "Women lose weight". ... first of all, if Slick Rick was serious about killing his spouse, he wouldnt say it in such a light airy way. plus if you actually listen to the lyrics, they are obviouslt making a mockery of people who actually thiknk this way. Especially with "send her ass right to the morgue" in the chorus. but the most obvious part that shows the saterical nature of the song is ion the third stanze when Rick mocks gossipy old women saying, "I heard he was displeased with her weight gain"If you have ever heard anything like morcheeba and liked it, buy this album without a thought. DO IT, DO IT NOW for the love of humanity
Free Music Review: All you need to know..... Hit: 5 Stars
Ever since Morcheeba's first cd, it was clear that they had a knack for combining impressive, sophisticated beats with that "eye-droopingly" soothing voice and fresh, innovative melodies. I have been listening to them for a few years and I just picked up Charango about a week ago. This is easily their best cd so far. the style is the same as always and easily recognizable as Morcheeba but the skill level used to create these songs is significantly more impressive than their previous releases. They've always been good, but Charango proves that they are getting better. Tracks 2,3, 4, 8, and 11 are my favorites but 8 out of the 12 tracks on the cd are good enough to buy the cd for that track alone. I know I'm a bit biased since I am a fan, but I feel confident that anyone who has any sort of respectable appreciation for music will be very impressed by what Morcheeba has done with this cd. If you have any sort of musical taste, there's no way you will be dissapointed
Free Music Review: Really, Really Good Hit: 5 Stars
Morcheeba is one of the best chill/lounge artists I know. Although I haven't heard some of their other albums, I'd be willing to bet this is best. Every single track is sooo good! You can put it in without having to skip once. "Slow Down" is truely fantastic, one of my favorite songs ever--from any artist, but "Otherwise" is also fantastic, along with "Aqualong" "Undress Me Now" "The Great London Traffic Warden Massacre" and even "Women Lose Weight" although the lyrics speak of a man killing his wife because she was too fat, lol... but don't worry, even with silly morbid lyrics Morcheeba pulls it off flawlessly.
Overall, this is one of the best albums I've bought in a LONG time. There aren't a ton of tracks, but with ALL of the songs being good, you'll find quality is way better than quantity.
Free Music Review: Oops, They Did It Again ... Hit: 5 Stars
Big Calm was probably one of my 50 favorite records of the last decade. And Fragments of Freedom was probably one of the 50 most disappointing. Almost unlistenable. So I was wondering which way they would go with Charango. And I'm pleased to report that Charango is a terrific record -- the dreamy equal of Big Calm, if not better. Standout tracks: Aqualung, Get Along, Public Displays of Affection, Great London Traffic, What New York Couples Fight About. I'm going to be listening to this one for years ...
