Free Music Review: "The jetsetter"
Hit: 5 Stars
Morningwood is punk rock, new wave, pop rock, very edgy, and filled with of lots of energy. I didn't expect much when I bought the album, but after hearing such incredible songs I am now a huge fan of this band. Unfortunately if your looking for introspective lyrics you won't find any here. The lyrics are fun, daring, rebellious, and at times shocking. It is Chantal claret vocals that bring this band to a higher level. Chantal's voice ranges from a ultra sweet baby's voice to a hard rock screaming vixen. On some songs she sounds as if she were Courtney Love or Joan jett. This is the best band I've heard this year yet.
The track listing is listed below. I rated the songs based on a 1 to 5 scale. 5 being the best and 1 being the worst.
Nu Rock- This song is full of energy and makes you wonna jump on tables and dance. Chantal sings,"All you little kids that love to rock and roll you sure got the style but you ain't got no soul." This song scores a 5 because it is one of the best songs on the album.
Televisor- This track sounds like new wave, and it stands out from the rest. Claret sings in her baby voice,"Sometimes I see in x-ray colors, and I can only hear it when it talks." I rate this a 4.
Nth degree- Is the pop song on the album. The chorus is extremely catchy and is made for the radio. I give this track a 4.
Jetsetter- This is the best song one the album. This song shows Chantal's range and roughness. Chantal screams, "All these strangers all around me they don't seem to give a ####." Then Claret lets out this loud and raw roar that could make your ears soar. I give this song a 5 for Chantal's grunts and growls.
Take off your clothes- This song is hilarious but at the same time sexy. This song shows off Chantal's soulful notes. The lyrics are funny and can be dirty. this track deserves a 4.
Body21- "If I had a candle and it was burnin it would be from one end that's enough of a thrill," sings Chantal with such vengence. This song is definitely punk and has the best lyrics. This song is very rebellious. The band wants to disavow all the rules they've been taught. 5
Easy- This song is definitely punk rock and makes you wonna throw things around. This song is a fueled with anger and has enough amunition to make you wired for days. The beat and vocals are fabulous and haunting. Chantal yells," Time is gonna get you if you like it or not, waiting around the corner or around the block."
Babysitter- This song could be distrurbing to some. But I think its just suppose to be a joke. Chantal sings, "Your momma, momma, momma shouldn't never let me babysit." The hook in the song doesn't miss a beat. 5
NY Girls- I rate this song a 5 due to its melody and heartpounding drums and guitar. I love this song. Its a fun song to workout to.
Everybody rules- The chorus overwhelms the entire songs. It's sounds distinctive. Chantal's baby soft vocals are about getting over a breakup and surviving. 4
Ride the lights- I love this song, because the melody is soothing to the ears, and Chantal sounds like a angel. It is the only slow song on the album, and the lyrics are refreshing and makes you wonder. 5
Make sure you check out "jetsetter", and "body 21."
