Free Music Notes for Live at Earl's CourtFree Music Review: The "M" is for "Mozzer" Hit: 5 Stars
Anybody who is slightly burnt-out on listening to "You are the Quarry",just because you can't stop listening to it,should pick up "Live at Earl's Court" as soon as you can.The sound quality is superb, the track listings are just right, and Morrissey sounds like he's having a really good time singing these songs. And die-hard Smith's fans, the version of "Bigmouth Strikes Again" is,alone, worth the purchase here.It is a Rip-Roaring,slap-in-the-face number my friends, which will get you out of your chair and make you do your best Air Guitar."Redondo Beach",is simply beautiful. And I have never heard the original version (yet).Buy this album,It will hold you over to his next one.
Free Music Review: the icon, the legend, the lyricist Hit: 5 Stars
Morrissey is the closest thing to Arthur Rimbaud that we have in this day and age. His music is unique, innovative, immaginative, uncomprimising, and also downright funny. His voice sounds, remarkably, as good or better than it ever did in his over 20 year career. 'Earls Court' is by far his greatest live recording to date - the sound quality is amazing. Morrissey is also one of those remarkable vocalists, like Frank Sinatra, who never sings a song the same way twice - always something fresh in his approach. 'Friday Mourning', 'Redondo Beach' and 'November Spawns a Monster' are my favorite tracks.
Free Music Review: Great voice, great song choice Hit: 5 Stars
Morrissey is in strong voice for this album--and sufficiently amped up by the crowd that he gives a high-energy and very emotional performance, growling and shouting and chanting quite convincingly when appropriate. It will help if you're familiar with the latest album, You Are the Quarry, songs from which comprise about a third of the disc, but if you're not, lietening to this will convince you to buy that album as well. Superb renditions of his old songs, too. Could the voice actually be improving with age? You be the judge!
Free Music Review: You Won't Be Disappointed! Hit: 5 Stars
As Morrissey has aged and evolved, so has my appreciation for his lyrics. He is simply one of the best lyricists of our generation (that would be those of us celebrating their 20th high school reunions these days!) Songs that I blew off as being "too much of a downer" years ago, I now appreciate and absorb. Whether you are a new fan, old fan or returning after being away for a while--this album will stand out for you. A must have and one that will probably be in rotation in your stereo for a long time.
Free Music Review: Great live CD! Great bargain! 18 songs! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great live CD with 18 full-size songs. A nice blend of Smiths, "You are the quarry", and various other songs.
I am not familiar with the Patti Smith version of the song, but I found Morrissey's re-imagined version to be one of the best tracks on the CD.
This is also a CD that sounds real well when you play it on "RANDOM" on your cd/mp3 player :-)
It may not be perfect, but it's hard to really complain about this live CD! A must for Morrissey/Smiths fans!
