Free Music Notes for Live at Earl's CourtFree Music Review: I AM MORE A SMITHS FAN BUT... Hit: 3 Stars
This has some good moments, for example to discover tracks like November spawned a Monster, and Don't make fun of Daddy's voice was a great experience for me.
Also vocally Morrisey is fab, and there are some great humerous moments when he interacts with crowd.
There are dissapointments though. For example though on Mozza's own stuff e.g The Quarry songs, The more u ignore me; the band perform great but it is The Smiths material where they are really shown up.
For example one of the greatest songs The Smiths wrote There is a Light that Never Goes Out, is performed too slow, and is dissapointing, and How soon is Now (In truth The Smiths themselves could never quite pull this track off live) doesn't quite work.
Also Mozza's solo work covers most of this album, there are only 5 Smiths songs, so die hard Smiths fans who are not fans of Mozza's solo work might be a tad bit dissapointed.
Most dissapointly it is arguibly as good as The Smiths only live release Rank, which in my opinion is only a three star live album.
To sum up, if u are a Mozza + Smiths fan you will love it, if u love only The Smiths u will be dissapointed!!!!
Free Music Review: "Rank is not dead!" Hit: 3 Stars
I'm having a difficult time accepting the "new, latino-inspired" Morrissey moment. Before I popped this disc into the player, I had "Rank" on my mind. 'How I dearly miss' those early days. The unique and catchy melodies of the Smiths and early Morrissey are gone. Perhaps it's not Morrissey though....it's that band of his! They're boring. Many MOZ fans have claimed the same. The music does not set me back at any degree. The sound quality of "Earls Court" is terrific, but the musical composition is very, very general. The band can't even duplicate Marr's work correctly. O'well....such is life.
Free Music Review: Where's the agnst? Hit: 3 Stars
Maybe it's just me, but I remember listening to Morrissey and The Smiths as a teenager and the music spoke to me, shocked me, and made me feel connected, someone out there is just as messed up as I am. When I heard this album I found a certain edge is missing (along with "Suedehead" and "Everyday is Like Sunday"). I do however find myself humming songs like "Shoplifters of the World Unite" and "You Know I Couldn't Last", and I still think Morrissey is a wonderfully gifted performer, but where's the agnst?
Free Music Review: not Hit: 1 Stars
Music for people who are not really interested in music, but have a fixation about Morrissey. Oh, and who mean to get around to reading some poetry sometime, but have never actually done it. Now watch me swish my gladioli, aint I artistic?
