Free Music Review: Morrissey's comeback is back, Bigmouth Strikes Again!
Hit: 5 Stars

This was destined to be a polarizing record. Don't listen to the reviews that denounce this album as boring. This is one of Morrissey's better solo albums. Although it is a little different-sounding than earlier albums. I don't understand why some reviewers in the music press refer to this as standard-issue Morrissey. It's not. Take a listen and you will know. The songs are strong. "Life is a Pigsty" is an instantaneous classic in the Morrissey repertoire. One of his most epic songs, up there with "I Know It's Over", "Speedway" and "Everyday is Like Sunday." The rest are fantastic as well. The only one that doesn't quite blow me away is the first track. Also "Dear God Please Help Me" is a particulary stunning song with a beautiful arrangement. "To Me You Are A Work of Art" is also amazing. In addition, there are at least 2 or 3 great rock-pop songs, sort of like "First of the Gang to Die" was on YATQ.

Free Music Review: This album slowly grows on you!
Hit: 5 Stars

Initially the first four tracks of the album may overwhelm the rest of the songs, making the album appear rather weak. However after you listen to the album for more than a handful of times the gap is bridged and there is a nice flow between the songs and it sounds like a cohesive unit. There is a way to speed up this process: Listen to tracks #5 and beyond separately for a few times, so they don't get overwhelmed by the first four :-)

If you like Morrissey/The Smiths you will find a lot of the things you like (in terms of music and lyrics) in here.

As far as which bundle to get, if you must have the bonus features of the CD/DVD set (which I think do not justify the additional cost), then go for that. Otherwise just get the audio CD like I did. You can instead earmark those funds towards the purchase "Who put the M in Manchester" or "Live at Earls court" :-)

Free Music Review: Another Masterpiece From Morrissey
Hit: 5 Stars

Very cohesive effort with strong lyrics right in your face, different from You are the quarry but in a beautiful way for sure. My favorites are; the grandiose opener "I will see you in far off places" - a large song with superb lyrics...."You Have Killed Me" - This is already a classic....."The Youngest was the Most Loved" - Flawless, especially the children chorus adds an extravagant flavor to the track...."In The Future When All's Well" - One of the most beautiful performances by Morrissey...."The Father Who Must Be Killed" - Again children chorus is superb, great song, should've been a single...."Life is a pigsty" - a long atmospheric track, cannot be described by words, just listen to it, it's delicate...."On the Streets I Ran" - Absolutely great song....As a whole this is a fine, delicate, intoxicating work of art.

Free Music Review: My favorite Morrissey ablum
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the first album by Morrissey that I've heard and, after listening to his two newer releases, I have to say that Ringleader of the Tormentors has to be my favorite of the many. Many would disagree, most likely siding with You Are the Quarry, Viva Hate, Your Arsenal. The chart numbers are also a bit unfriendly to Ringleader as compared to other albums.

The album is darker than the others--both lyrically and musically, if the later makes any sense. Toni Visconti's production gave this album a unique sound, and the theme is dominated by the stark and somber lyrics of which, lately, Morrissey only seems to write more.

A defining album by my favorite artist; you can't listen to the Moz without listening to Ringleader of the Tormentors.

Free Music Review: Morrissey should be catalogued under 'Pop Standards'
Hit: 5 Stars

Morrissey, long my favorite, has been up and down and all around; I've loved every moment. This album is an incredible zenith for him, his best post-Smiths work yet. And that's no small thing to say. 'Ringleader' is in turns epic ("Life is a Pigsty") and exotic ("I Will See You in Far Off Places"--not un-epic itself), yet never bombastic. And the rockers are top gear, never settling for the obvious hook or vocal line. As always, Morrissey's lyrics are uniquely beautiful in their honesty and romanticism. I could go on and on and on... But what really sets the man apart is his refusal to pander to his audience. This is challenging, truly rewarding pop music. Morrissey is peerless, and 'Ringleader' is proof.
