Free Music Review: Even More Depressing Than Usual!
Hit: 5 Stars

The lyrics are less poetic and more blunt/hateful than previously. At least half of the album has to do with death, dying, or killing; yet Ringleader of the Tormentors is still very listenable. I think that the music and his vocals are just as strong as ever though, and maybe even more so than on You Are The Quarry. Many people would probably disagree with me, though. YATQ does have a little bit better production, but Tony Visconti still does an excellent job. It just sounds a little "muddy," which could have been his intention anyway to even out the mood of the album. Overall, ROTT makes for a great listen. Just don't listen to it if your depressed to begin with....or really happy!

Free Music Review: The Master Of Mesmerizing Melodies Returns !
Hit: 5 Stars

Ringleaders Of The Tormentors vindicates Morrissey as a captivating crooner and master of mesmerizing melodies. Recorded in Rome, Morrissey's new home, the album is replete with both poignant and buoyant songs. This is his finest CD since Southpaw Grammar and proves that Morrissey was the Smiths. He is still an incomparable lyricist and he will never be replaced as the music industry's most vehement vegetarian and adamant animal rights activist. No Meat Was Murdered for this celestial CD. Let's hope Morrisey remains in Rome because he has been bestowed with Divine Intervention that brilliantly resonates throughout Ringleader Of The Tormentors. Every song is amazing !

Free Music Review: To Me You Are A Work Of Art.....
Hit: 5 Stars

...."Ringleader Of The Tormentors" is a subtle masterpiece by Morrissey. He definitely took some chances on this record but as a life-long Smiths/Morrissey fan I'll stand by my 5 star rating. Morrissey's lyrics are still brilliant. Put it this way, the only song I don't really like is "Dear God, Please Help Me", but even that one has it's musical merits. I find the production, song arrangements, and vocals to have a quirky appeal, but nonetheless, haunting and very catchy. It took several listens but ROTT has really grown on me and I think it's a fantastic album.....a must for any true Moz fan.

Free Music Review: Morrissey is more cheerful, open, raw and dynamic
Hit: 5 Stars

I think "Ringleader of the Tormentors" needs some more listening to really appreciate it. It proves to be better then "You are the Quarry", because there is more variation in composition besides the stilish orchestration of Ennio Morricone and the dynamic production of Toni Visconti. Morrissey himself sings very joyful with a still flexible voice and the fabulous band with three guitars and great symphonic keyboards is an experience on his own. I saw them live this week, and was very impressed by the perfect sound and show. Morrissey is back on the level of "How soon is now" from the days of the Smiths. The city of Rome must have given him special inspiration.

Free Music Review: one or two stars?
Hit: 5 Stars

Come on guys. Maybe if you've never heard the guy before but if you're a fan...especially a long-time one? While it might not be as classic or immediately catchy as some of his earlier stuff, I like it more than "You are the Quarry" or "Maladjusted". I have given this LP about a year to sink in and I like it alot.

The production works with Morrissey's style and my only complaints are the two excessively long songs, Dear God and Life is a Pigsty. Usually, however, I skip over those and the rest of the album is classic Morrissey, both lyrically and musically.
