Free Music Notes for Southpaw GrammarFree Music Review: The ringleader of the tormentors Hit: 5 Stars
This album might be a few years old, but snap it up. Only three left
at Amazon!
Before Morrissey was ever the Ringleader of the Tormentors, he was alot
of other things. Such as the tormented man who wore a Union Jack Flag
around him to protest against something or another. And then what about
the rock and roll quiffs?
Anyway, Southpaw Grammer stands out for its 11 minute intro song, and
it's 8 minute outro. Your ears are treated to intelligent lyrics and
tons of arrangements by the guitarist Alain Whyte. Who really does
know his F# from his Gb.
As always there is plenty of sarcasm, tongue in cheek lyrics, humour and
so forth. Once again something to think about on the way to work. Or take
the week off, buy all of this man's albums and see if going to work
again really has any significance.
Free Music Review: Elvis WHO? Bring on Morrissey! Hit: 5 Stars
Smiths - Morrissey: let me give you the conclusion that took me 18 years to arrive at. Besides the song Meat is Murder, Morrissey doesn't have a bad song is his catalog. I used to think "Kill Uncle" (by Morrissey) was a lame album and that "Maladjusted" was worse. I traded in both cd's only to buy them back years later. It is a disservice to judge The Smiths and Morrissey album by album, this one is more sorrowful, this one has the right mix of angst, self-indulgence, wit, blah, blah, blah. Stick all the songs on MP3 format and press random: it is sonic Heaven and Hell. Morrissey IS the Mozart of our time, he will die as a blip on the musical scene with most people drawing a blank stare at the mention of "How Soon is Now." Oh wait, didn't he write the theme song for "Charmed."
Free Music Review: If you like Morrissey, you'll like this album Hit: 5 Stars
It gets old reading people's reviews who almost always try to make themselves out to be a fan of Morrissey "since The Smiths days" yet they totally trash this cd. If you honestly like Morrissey then you'll naturally like this album also. If you want to hear Vauxhall or Your Arsenal then listen to them! The fact that they are great albums shouldn't disqualify another album from greatness just because it doesn't imitate them. Hopefully no respectable artist would churn out the same albums over and over.
Free Music Review: much better than I thought Hit: 5 Stars
I put off buying this record for a long long time because having read that he was suppossedly trying to break the american market with this album, I just couldn't picture this to be good. But - I was wrong already the opener "The Teachers Are Afraid of the Pupils" is sure enough a depart from his usual format of 3 minute songs but it packs as much impact as for example led zep's "kashmir"good good good I've been listening to it everyday since I bought it.
Free Music Review: Folks, its not that bad Hit: 5 Stars
The songs on this album were a necessary departure for the time when it came out in 1995,it was after Vauxhall and I people!!-the softest of his albums- this is Morrissey at his hardest. I only wish that they would have included the two b-sides that came out with the Dagenham Dave single: you must please remember & nobody loves us. I have enjoyed it over the years and like it equally to You are the Quarry even though it isnt as melodious as the latter.
