Free Music Review: A Huge Improvement Over Kill Uncle

While Kill Uncle wasn't as bad as people made it out to be, Your Arsenal was and still is an absolute classic. It's a hard rocking glam album, that could've easily ranked with the best from 70's. "Seasick, Yet Still Docked," was the only song that took a little while to grow on me. It's now become one of my favorite's off the album along with "You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side," "The National Front Disco," and "Tomorrow." At first it seems like the song redundantly trudges along, but the lyrics are truely saddening and the music does fit perfectly. It took me a while to figure out what "The National Front Disco" was about, but after reading other reviews and hearing him sing "England, for the English," was when I finally realized it's about racism. The rest of the album has to do with glue sniffing, back stabbing your successful friends, fat chicks, and of course, loneliness.

His fourth and finest solo album is, as the cover shot suggests, Morrisey's idea of hard rock. There's a gritty, glam feel to Mick Ronson's production (check the Ziggy Stardust cop on "I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday"), while the loud'n'rude riffs of new guitarist Boz Boorer banish memories of the Smiths.
