I've heard bad things about this album. I've also heard people praise Kweli's "Beautiful Struggle" & "Eardrum", which I find Talib putting out crap albums lately. I also find myself mad listening to Common's "Be" & "Finding Forever". I feel Mos Def is staying true to himself and making music he likes and wants to make. On true magic, I feel he put this out for his true fans. TRUE MAGIC...... Free Music Review: straight up, one of the best

seriously, you enjoy hip-hop, rap, any type of rhyms? this is up as one of the best my ears have had the enjoyment to listen upon. from start to finish mos absolutely rips it up. i don't need to go into detail. a must own. a must listen for the ages.Free Music Review: He Is Undeniably Untouchable

Man with this project as well as Talib out together it is like having two BlackStar projects at once and so it is. Mos Def is truly a freedom fighter, prolific, outspoken and unapologetic. He lyrically projects the recipe we need to begin to change our disposition. He has so much insight just think back to New Danger his last project he virtually predicted the type of murder suicide that we are seeing today at these schools but just check out the caption. He is a true visionary an outspoken human being who is way ahead of his time, a prophet in the flesh, because it is infact the New Danger. Everytime, I hear about these tragedies I see that caption an understand its significance. When the children feel like their only way out is to destroy their fellow classmates, rolemodels and classmates; we realize how much we need to examine our values. His message sometimes subliminal and other times forthright identifies the Fake Bonanza we all experience. The last few tracks his portrays a town crier, when he chants about FREEEEDOM. He mimics Bob Marley and I couldn't think of a better man for the job. Thanks Mos Definately for all that you do and your portrayal as an African Immigrant working as a dishwasher in Journey Until The End of the Night was stellar. Keep Doin' You, Def. Hopefully you will stumble upon this and continue to be inspired.

With all sincerity, True Magic is one of the best I've heard in a LOOONGG while... Audibly pleasing, word play is poetic, vocab use is profound, delivery is confident, and knowledge is deep. LOVED it.
Each song has a meaning, the beats plays a major part in manifesting Mos' vision and character.

i stumbled across this accidentally, but it's a solid offering. his obligatory reference to new orleans is actually a pretty good song. overall it's classic mos def while still feeling fresh in 2007.
