Free Music Notes for Motley CrueFree Music Review: The Crue at it's Best - Bring back Corabi! Hit: 5 Stars
What band is this? It can't be the circus act that recorded Theatre of Pain or Dr. Feelgood. The playing is better. The songs are better. Jon Corabi filling Vince Neil's shoes? Vince Neil's shoes should have been left on the curb. Corabi MAKES this album and in another place and time, THIS version of Motley Crue would have gone on to rule the 90's metal scene the way the old version ruled the 80's. There is more texture, maturity, musicianship, and good songwriting in the weakest song on this album than the ENTIRE Crue catalog combined.
"Home Sweet Home" you say? I give you "Misunderstood."
"Kickstart My Heart" you say? I give you "Welcome To the Numb."
On and on and on, this album kicks Motley's collective past efforts off the planet. Solid, aggressive, soulful, and sadly, a commercial failure. If vibe was more important than money, this is the Crue that would be together today. The radio and their fans failed them by not picking up on the brilliance of this disc.
Don't make the same mistake.
Free Music Review: Rock fans of any kind can't be disappointed here!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
This is the only Crüe album without Vince Neil on vocals. No disrespect to Vince, he's really great, but singer John Corabi is deeper-voiced, and that's part of what makes this album so unique. He adds a little more anger and spirit to the sound. It is also an extremely well produced album (by Bob Rock). The sound is incredibly powerful. The riffs have a lot of depth, very Sabbath-like, in fact, Mick Mars never sounded better. But the best part is Tommy Lee's drumming. He has here one of the greatest drumming sound ever recorded in rock and roll history. And he's a kick*ss drummer... Violent, agressive, groovy, wild... he's the man. He's not very technical, like, for example, Neil Peart (Rush), but he is soooooo entertaining! The songs are pretty well crafted, certainly not as catchy as the Dr. Feelgood-era songs were, but more serious and mean. You just never mess with Nikki Sixx... A surprisingly great rock album.
Free Music Review: "John Corabi appears on the scene ~ Motley Crue" Hit: 5 Stars
In this Hip-O Records release "Motley Crue", features John Corabi on vocals replacing Vince Neil with the regular Crue gang of Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars and Tommy Lee. Original tracks plus three new bonus tracks include some rare unreleased material. Let's unveil some of the previously unreleased tracks "HYPNOTIZED" and "LIVIN' IN THE KNOW" brings additional excitement to the gritty performances of Corabi. A song that was cut from this album and later reinstated was "BABYKILLS" from "Quaternary" takes us into the dark side. The musicians excel displaying on every cue from start to finsih, the tunes are shot straight from the hip. Might mention this is Motley Crue creativity with no holds barred ~ you know what you're in for from start to finish. Takes every fan to a jumping off point to better things.Total Time: 69:54 on 15 Tracks ~ Hip-O Records 440-067-633-2 ~ (4/08/2003)
Free Music Review: THIS ALBUM IS AWESOME Hit: 5 Stars
This album rocks in every way, shape, or form. Without a doubt right behind Dr.Feelgood. I really believe that if this album was promoted today with songs like uncle jack, loveshine, and misunderstood because I think those songs fit in with the rock thats on the radie today, that this album would be a hit. And you know why...because most kids that listen to rock radio now are too yuong or dont even know Motley Crue. Therefore they wouldnt judge it over the singer being Corabi, they would judge it for the awesome music. Thats the way it should have been in 94, judged for the music not the name of the band or the singer, which nikki sixx even said if they changed the name of the band it would have been a hit. Anway, awesome album and anyone who hasnt heard it is missing out, so definately buy this album!
Free Music Review: Think what you want, but... Hit: 5 Stars
I have about 1,500 cd's in my collection and after nearly 10 years, I still think this is among the best cd's I've ever bought (if not the best). When it was reissued, I bought that as well for the extra songs and those are great as well. Every single song here is very good. If your a fan of hard rock or the crue, you should really have this cd. Nothing disappoints on this disk. John Corabi was more than able at not only replacing Vince Neil, but out did Vince all the way through. Johns voice, singing, and guitar playing is great and it helps bring out the musicians in the rest of the gang. Highlights are "Misunderstood", "Uncle Jack", "Loveshine", "Til Death Do Us Part", "Driftaway"..., well you get the point. F*%k Vince. Long live the Crue!
