WHILE EAGERLY ANTICIPATING THE 2005 REUNION OF THE YEAR,I PUT THIS BAD BOY ON ONCE AGAIN..THE CD IS JUST SOO GOOD THAT I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN.IF YOU WERE EXPECTING THE CRUE SOUND AND STYLES OF OLD TO BE RECREATED-YOU'D BE RIGHT AS RAIN!!VINCE CAN STILL BELT OUT A GOOD SONG, AND CROON AND WAIL TILL HE IS BLUE IN THE FACE .AND YOU GOTTA RESPECT MICK MARS PLAYING VIRTUOSITY AS WELL,SEEING AS TO HIS CONDITION AND ALL..EVERY SONG IS A TESTAMENT TO THE BAND,THAT RANGE FROM SONGS THEY DO THAT REMIND YOU OF SOMETHING THAT MAY HAVE BEEN LEFT OFF OF ''TOO FAST FOR LOVE '' OR '' SHOUT AT THE DEVIL '' ..THEY GET BLUESY TOO LIKE ANY NUMBER OF SONGS TAKEN FROM '' GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS '' OR'' THEATER OF PAIN '' CDS. AND EVEN THE RARE BALLAD OR SLOW NUMBER SHOWCASES THE BAND'S VARIED SONG STYLES THAT WERE ON EACH AND EVERY RECORD.. ON THIS DISC THERE IS NOT ONE LETDOWN IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM..THEN THEY PLAY SOME SONGS THAT HAVE A'' DR.FEELGOOD ''FEEL TO THEM AS WELL.THE LATE GREAT RANDY CASTILLO PLAYED ON THIS CD , AND HE PLAYED AS GOOD AS -IF NOT BETTER THAN TOMMY LEE EVER DID..SO WHETHER YOU HAVE THEIR FIRST 2 RELEASES, OR THEIR LATER TITLES,THIS CD WILL TAKE YOU BACK DOWN MEMORY LANE..SO VINCE PUT ON A FEW POUNDS , AND GREW OUT HIS HAIR COLOR, ONE MEMBER IS EXTREMELY ILL ,ONE GUY WAS KICKED OUT, AND ONE DUDE KICKED DRUGS -THIS CD STILL KICKS ASS BIG TIME!!JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT THEY'RE STILL KICKIN AND IT'S STILL

Forget about everything else Motley Crüe has released in the 1990s--their self-titled 1994 release and its follow-up, Generation Swine, are embarrassments. Instead, wrap your ears around New Tattoo. This is what this band has always been all about: riffs, hooks, sass, raunch, and hair. Except for the fact that they're older and have replaced Tommy Lee with Randy Castillo, going by the band photos in the CD booklet, this could be 1989. True, the Crüe also seem to have gained at least a little wisdom--the prostitute in "Hell on High Heels" has HIV, fame clearly has its downside in "Fake," and instead of indulging in "Girls, Girls, Girls," the boys have evidently discovered the joys of safe cyber-sex in "Porno Star." On the other hand, the title track is a love song; they evidently miss the old days so much that they're willing to go to outer space for the chance to have that much fun again ("1st Band on the Moon"); and their romances are as problematic as ever ("Hollywood Ending," "Punched in the Teeth by Love"). With New Tattoo, the Crüe have recaptured the essence of what made them superstars. Whether that'll happen again is open to question, but it's still a good argument for sticking to what you're good at. --Genevieve Williams
