Free Music Notes for New TattooFree Music Review: The boys are back! Hit: 5 Stars
The boys are back. The new album titled New Tattoo (Motley Records/Beyond Music, 2000) has every element that Motley Crue has been known for since its debut in 1981. Loud guitars, catchy melodies and eyebrow raising lyrics are still there . The Hollywood-based band has proved that they can still create the same groove even after the separation from their long-time drummer, Tommy Lee. Randy Castillo, a new drummer, contributed to the band's straight and dynamic rhythm in the heart of "L.A. Metal", a trend that emerged in the early 80s. As soon as the riff of the guitar barks at a kick-start opener, "Hell on the High Heels" (Track 1), listeners will have a hard time to stopping the CD until its end. The string of up-tempo tunes dominates the whole album, but there are some parts that slow down, balancing the aggressive tone by adding a little bit of emotions. The beautiful melodies of "New Tattoo" (Track 3) and "Hollywood Ending" (Track 8) capture listeners' ears. The main song writer, bassist Nikki Sixx, reveals the innocence and sensitivity in these lyrics. Even though the tone of optimism can be detected all over the album, Motley Crue shows a bitter sense in dealing with the real world. The prostitute in "Hell on the High Heels" has HIV, starry-eyed girls keep falling to the dirty corner of Hollywood in "Hollywood Ending". Unlike their mega-hit in the late 80s, "Girls, Girls, Girls" (Electra Records, 1987), the band finds more safety in peeping porno stars online than having actual sex in "Porno Star" (Track 9). There were times in the 90s that Motley Crue was almost forgotten in the mainstream. With New Tattoo, they have proved their strong ability to overwhelm and attracts new fans, especially young people who have never listened to Motley Crue before, while satisfying their old-time loyal fans.
Free Music Review: The Bad BoyZ of rock'n'roll are back.... Hit: 5 Stars
That's right... The Crue is back and doing what it does best. Heavy guitar riffs... pounding drums and bass.... and Vince's voice. All Perfect. "Hell on high heels" can easily be dubbed a Crue Classic. If all you Crueheads loved the old crue then you've got what you wanted... But some things bothered me... first of all people expeted New Tatoo to be Dr.Feelgood #2. and said that it wasn't as good. Wake up... it's not everyday a band makes the best album of their lives...although I think New Tatoo is their best. But e.g. take a look at Van Halen. There debut CD sold more than 10 million copies. Other's sold 4 million 5 million which is good. It's better if you keep going strong than just stay strong and dominant for a year then drop the next year. And there are also 2 beautiful ballads on this CD which is great because I think all rock/rocknroll cd's should have @ least one ballad on them and not everything should be loud and aggressive. I also think "Punched in the teeth by love" is a crue classic and "Treat me like a dog i am" may very well be a classic. I had 2 go to the CD store from school in the rain and a howling storm, i said nothings gonna stop me from getting this CD, since Nikki promised the fans that this cdwill remind fans of songs that made them fall in love with Motley in the first place. Abd bow looking back... an earthquake wouldn't have stopped me from getting this CD. BUY IT!
Free Music Review: Rock n Roll is back! Hit: 5 Stars
New Tattoo shows the rock industry that Rock n Roll may be saved. A typical Motley record...talking about sex, and rock n roll shows that the "Bad Boys of rock n roll" are back. They also through in 2 ballads that they are known for, which also rock in their own way. Mick Mars really comes into his own on this album playing heavy guitar solos that tells all the people that say he's a bad guitarist to basically f**k off. Vince's voice has never sounded better, it reminded me of listening to Dr. Feelgood (not to mention he has his blond hair back!). Nikki's bass lines are awsome and powerful. And Randy Castillo show's all the negative people saying "Motley isn't the same without Tommy" that he can fill Tommy's spot no problem. Randy plays the drums just as hard and just as loud as Tommy ever did. Fact is people, Tommy's not coming back...he wants to do rap, get over it and allow Castillo a chance. If you take the time to listen, you'll hear that he's just as good. This album is definately a must have for any rock n roll fan. Personal Faves: Hell on High Heels, 1st Band on the Moon, She Needs Rock n Roll, Hollywood Ending, Fake, and White Punks on Dope.
Free Music Review: Awesome CD...best form EVER! Hit: 5 Stars
The people who are whining about this CD are the kids that discovered Motley Crue sometime during the nineties and dug some that experimental stuff. To me, this band was always about the first two albums, and they the epitome of everything that was great about heavy metal back in its eighties heydey when I was in high school. I saw the New Tattoo show in Concord, CA a couple of weeks ago, and it was like going back in time. It was as real as I've seen rock and roll performed in over 10 years...And the crowd were all Crue verterans...30-somethings that know every word of every song and every note of every solo. This album is conceivably the best album they've ever done...It's got a big, big sound. Yeah there's cliches, but you should expect that. It's all about the killer amalgam of melody, crunch, attitude, and images of all those things that rock songs have always been about...and the Crue pull it off flawlessly...better than anyone else I've heard in a long time. I boomed some of the songs in my office today and I saw a lot of heads banging from the most unlikeliest of people. Hell yeah, the CD rocks. And go see the tour...you won't be disappointed.
