Free Music Review: Great Album
Hit: 5 Stars

I usually don't write reviews but Motley is and will always be my favorite band. I've been a fan of Motley for quite some time now, so I wanted to take the time and write a review for Saints. I absolutely love this album. One thing I've always loved about Motley is their creativity and ability to change and grow with each album. I personally don't think any Motley album sounds the same and I love this perspective. With Saints I think you get the classic Motley with a new vibe and feel to it. I also think there is so much energy on this album, and I think the chemistry of the band shines (as with the other albums). Vince sounds great, Nikki's bass blends in awesome, Tommy's drumming is crushing and Micks guitar work is stellar. One thing I've always loved about Mick is his style and creativity. It's like when I hear this album the guitar sounds like nothing I've heard before, and sure enough it's Mick. He seems to always be able to create something new and totally cool sounding. I love the opening riff to psycho and love the guitar solo. I really like all the songs, if I would have to pick Favorites I would choose Saints, MF of the Year, Psycho, Chicks = Trouble, actually I should just say all of them.
Another reason I wanted to write a review was because of the respect that has grown on me for this band and all the members. It's been kind of a difficult year for me, my Dad was involved in a very serious accident and it's kind of taken a toll on me. When I start to get down or depressed I think of Motley and what they have been through. This band has been through everything, but they have moved on and they have never gave up. With Vince's accident and Daughter, Nikki's rough childhood and addiction, Mick's bone disease, they have soldered on and I respect them so much for that. To go through those situations it makes you a stronger person and I know I have grown from it. It's like Motley did it so I can do it.
My personal opinion, you put these 4 guys together and they can make music better than anyone. Long live the CRUE Forever.

Motley Crue-Saints Of Los Angeles ****1/2

The Crue is back and with vengeance. This has to be without a doubt the worlds most grimy band, at their all time grimiest, and to tell you the truth I absolutely love it! Saints rates among the Crue's best albums and I would go so far as to say that only behind Shout ATD, and Too FFL would this rate third. It's loud, violent, genre-bending, loud angry rock n' roll that the crue is known for. Vince Neil sounds the best he has sounded since Dr. Feelgoode. Mick Mars, well his guitar playing has never been anything less than killer. Tommy still sort of thinks he is black and 19 but it is okay because it actually works for him here. Nikki, well Nikki has always been a personal hero as a rock n' roll lyricist there are few better than him.

'Face Down In The Dirt' more or less has described my though process since I first heard Aerosmith when I was 11, so for me the song kills! 'Down At The Whiskey' has a great riff and some of Sixx's better lyrics. The title track, and lead single is among the best Crue has released ever. 'The Animal In Me' is a attempt at a ballad that they don't really pull off but is still enjoyable to an extint. 'Just Another Psycho' is not worthy of a Crue album, though 'Chicks=Trouble' certainly does. 'Goin Out Swingin' closes the album an was added at the last moment which pushed the release back which is okay with me because it is a great song.

Saints Of Los Angeles is based upon the tell all autobiography the band wrote a few years back which makes for some of the most personal songs the band has ever recorded. Saints is a worthy pick up and more or less destroys all the Motley albums released since Dr. Feelgoode. Can't wait for the tour!

Free Music Review: One Of Their Best
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been a huge Motley Crue Fan for nine years and I feel this is one of their best since DR. Feelgood or MC94. To me none of this seems like filler becuase I can see how it relates too The Dirt. Every song seems to already be stuck in my head and I find myself singing various parts of the songs throughout my day. This album combines there different sounds of previous albums into something for today. Songs are all pretty catchy my favorites in order of appearance:

Face Down In The Dirt- Fast paced, catchy chorus, great drums and vox
Down At The Whisky- Mid paced, galloping drum beat, memorable chorus
Saints Of Los Angeles- Lead single, strong Mid Paced song
MF Of The Year- Heavy, mid paced, Great chorus
The Animal In Me- Slower ballad type song, pretty heavy, very good song
Just Another Psycho- Another mid paced, very cathcy
Chicks=Trouble=Faster paced, very catchy chorus
This Ain't A Love Song- Mid paced, catchy chorus, the end reminded me a little of Primal Scream
White Trash Circus- Very good mid paced, Love the drum beat with the guitar it keeps getting stuck in my head
Goin' Out Swingin'- Great heavy fast paced closer, glad they added this one, awsome drums

I know I listed most of the album, but that's how good it is. I really like the heaviness of the album. All elements are strong here though production, drums, guitar, bass, vocals you get the picture. I'm very impressed with the work they put into this one. I liked the single, but was afraid I would be dissapointed with the rest. Well I WAS DEAD WRONG and If you're a Crue fan old or new this is a must have for your collection.

Free Music Review: Tied for best overall Neil Crue album. The Corabi album is still better, though.
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm sure I'll take a few negative feedback remarks for what I said about the Corabi album, but screw it. It's how I feel. Having said that...

I've written about Motley Crue a lot. I'm also on record that saying that the Crue's best record is the one they made without Vince Neil - the John Corabi record from 1994. I still believe that, but I have to admit, Saints of Los Angeles is up there. It surprised the heck out of me.

When Vince returned in the mid 90's, there were two really rather bad studio albums with him (Generation Swine & New Tattoo), and I really felt Crue was done from a studio standpoint. So it was with some trepidation that I heard they were doing a new studio album for 2008. When it got close, some entertainment website had the full album up for streaming. So I decided to give it a listen.

WOW! This is by far the best thing they've done in ages. It's not even funny. Really - that sounds like a joke, but it isn't. Saints of Los Angeles is probably right up there with Shout at the Devil for best album with Vince Neil. I still like the Corabi album better, but Los Angeles is QUITE good. There's no real filler tracks, which is a surprise. This is the point where I usually list a few tracks I like, but there isn't one I want to skip when I listen to it. Major thumbs up!

If you're a Motley Crue fan at all, I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Free Music Review: This CD is insanely good.
Hit: 5 Stars

After reading The Dirt by Motley Crue I decided to check out their most recent release Saints of Los Angeles. I admit my expectations were low after hearing their last two efforts Generation Swine and New Tattoo. Was I ever shocked! This is one of the best rock/metal CD's I've ever heard. The songs are tight and sound great. Mean riffs with down and dirty lyrics about the Crue's early days when they were struggling and trying to make it. Of course, along their way to the top, you hear about the woman, the drugs, the fights and craziness that was (and is) Motley Crue.

Vince's voice sounds great. He sounds just as good as he did 20 years ago on Dr. Feelgood. Tommy's drumming is awesome. He brings so much energy to each song. If you listen to New Tattoo you definitely hear the lack of power behind the songs because they had a different drummer then. Nikki lays down some great grooves too. It's funny to read in The Dirt that when Nikki was young he couldn't play a single note, let alone even know what a bass guitar looked like! He has come a long way. And finally Mick Mars. Unbelievable riffs and solos. I always thought he was a good guitarist, but this might be his finest performance he's ever recorded.

Overall, this is CD is great. Every song is good. My favorites being What's It Gonna Take, Saints of Los Angeles, White Trash Circus and Goin' Out Swingin'. Regardless if you are a Crue fan or not, if you like heavy and mean rock 'n' roll you will love The Saints of Los Angeles.
