Free Music Notes for Moulin Rouge, Vol. 2 [Music from the Motion Picture]Free Music Review: Baz Does it Again Hit: 5 Stars
As he did with "Romeo & Juliet" Baz Lurman has produced a second soundtrack ablbum from his hit film, "Moulin Rouge!" After buying the first album, many wondered where some of the great songs like "The Show Must Go On," "Spectacular, Spectacular," and "Bolero" (the awesome End-Credit music) were. The answer is on this great CD from BLAM. With all three of the above songs as well as a remixes from the original album, this CD rounds out the "Moulin Rouge!" listening experience. All of the elements that made this movie enjoyable to watch are in this, the second volume of music. And yes, the "fairy bells" from "Like a Virgin" and Zidler's swooshing sound from "Spectacular, Spectacular" are included in the soundtrack. As the song says, "...No words in the venacular, can describe this great event, you'll be filled with wonderment."

Those disappointed souls who ran out and bought the first CD should buy this one!
I'm a geek and I recently purchased this for my wife for her birthday. She promptly unwrapped it, looked at it and left it on the table (Mon). Today (Wed), while cleaning the house, I confiscated it...
I threw that sucker into the stereo and (very) quickly annoyed my neighbors with a few of the tracks. While Spectacular Spectacular isn't my favorite, a few of the others got my non-dancing personality to slide around on the hardwood floors, dance with the dog and a few other things I won't admit - all while moving furniture.
The short clips Amazon provides doesn't do it justice since some of the songs take a minute or two to really get moving. Deep beats, much more detail and more of the song than you hear in the movie, this CD has quickly become a favorite. It's all mine! Muhahaha
Free Music Review: Fantastic yet lacking Hit: 5 Stars
As most have said, as a stand alone CD it is rock solid. But for fans of the movie that sing it in their heads 24 hours a day there are some ommissions. It is criminal that Come What May (Finale)/Coup De Tas is not included on this disk, as I feel that that number is the emotional/musical pinnacle of the film. As for the music that is included, it is a great addition to the first CD. "Bolero", "Like a Virgin", and both orchestral versions of "Your Song" are out of this world. I hate to see repetetive tracks from the first disk such as "Sparkling Diamonds" and "Someday I'll Fly Away" especially since there were more desireable songs that could have been included. All in all though, the CD is top notch and will more than please any Moulin Rouge nuts like myself. There is nothing like "Bolero" during the morning commute!!
Free Music Review: Spectacular, Spectacular! Hit: 5 Stars
After seeing the movie, my husband and I went to a music store to listen to the first and only soundtrack out at that time. We were severely disappointed. It was missing some of the most amazing songs from the film! You can only imagine how exciting it was to find this one! It included some of the most memorable songs from the film from "Like A Virgin" to "Spectacular, Spectacular" to our favorite version of "Come What May". In fact this is the lesser produced sounding version of "Come What May" which my husband insisted that we dance to as our first dance at our wedding and brought tears to our eyes. Everytime I hear this soundtrack it brings back terrific memories of the movie, which I recommend that you purchase as well! But, overall if you are debating between soundtracks, get this one, you won't regret it!
Free Music Review: Awesome no matter what. Hit: 5 Stars
Okay, because it's Moulin Rouge I give it 5 stars. But you want honesty? I'm a bit disappointed. Anyone out there have the second soundtrack volume from Baz's take on Romeo + Juliet? Yeah, with its seven million tracks of dialogue and voiceovers and song snippets and every single musical moment in the movie? There was so the opportunity to do that and more with Moulin Rouge! The Pitch misses out on the funky dialogue bit in the middle? ("India, India! It's set in India!!") No? C'mon, Baz? Where's the MORE we wanted? It's okay. The instrumentals of Your Song are gorgeous, I was doing a happy dance for days over Meet Me in the Red Room's inclusion, and Like a Virgin was a fave from the beginning. So thanks, really, but *next* time...
