Free Music Review: A Bohemian Storm is Brewing!
Hit: 5 Stars

Before I saw this, the Matrix was my favourite movie. Though the Matrix is still one of my top five favourites, Moulin Rouge is at the top for movie and soundtrack.
I truely enjoy the sound of Ewan McGregor's voice, there's no other way to explain it. I feel like dancing to some of the songs, others I just close my eyes and remember the scene from the movie.
My rating is a five, though the soundtrack wasn't PERFECT it was better than a four, so let's say 4.5!
....
The songs:
01. Nature Boy- I love David Bowie's voice, this song is beautiful, takes me back to Labyrinth. Four Stars
02. Lady Marmalade- It's a good song, nice for dancing. My friends and I used it in our talent show, and it was a smashing hit. Three Stars
03. Because We Can- I rarely listen to this song, because I'm busy listening to the rest... I like the song, but I prefer the love medleys. Two Stars
04. Sparkling Diamonds- Great song, entertaining, fun to sing. Three Stars.
05. Rhythm of the Night- This is fun to listen to, jumpy, and a change from the norm. I give it four stars.
06. Your Song- Wonderful song, I could just drown in Ewan McGregor's voice, it's amazing, incredible. Five stars!
07. Children of The Revolution- I don't know why I like it, but it's a great song. It's a change from the others, and so it's fun to listen to. Four stars.
08. One Day I'll Fly Away- Nicole has a pretty good voice, though I think Ewan stole the show. I like listening to this song, it's very pretty, and I always get clips in my head, remembering the scene. Four Stars
09. Diamond Dogs- Like it. It's a cool song. Three stars.
10. Elephant Love Medley- The third best song on the album. It's funny at the beginning, and I love singing along. (My range is actually closer to Ewan's than Nicole's.) Five Stars.
11. Come What May- Second best song on the album. It's absolutely beautiful, and I enjoy singing along! Five Stars!
12. El Tango De Roxanne- The Best Song on the Album. It's incredible, and Ewan and Jose can really sing! I love listening to it, fact is I am right now. I named my cat Baby El Tango De Roxanne, (Baby Roxy for short) and oh.. how can I explain it? IT'S BEAUTIFUL, MARVELOUS! I LOVE IT! SIX STARS. :-)
13. Complainte De La Butte- It's a good song, though it's in what I think is French, so I can't understand a word. (smile) It's an okay song though. Two stars.
14. Hindi Sad Diamonds- I only speak the truth when I say it's weird but quite enjoyable to listen to! Four stars.
15. Nature Boy- This song is so cool, though I like the first one the same. I enjoy listening to it, and so, four stars.

In Conclusion: If you have seen the movie, the soundtrack is a must-buy. I enjoy every minute of it, and it's the first CD I've ever owned in which I don't have to skip a song due to dislike or something. I love it, and when my brother borrows it, I go insane, because I listen to it EVERY DAY! I recommend it!
A.A.

Free Music Review: Dance at the Moulin Rouge
Hit: 5 Stars

Pop, R&B, Dance, Latin, Rock and Opera. All these styles mix successfully on this hop soundtrack to probably one of the most anticipated films of the year. The Nicole Kidman - Ewan McGregor romance musical features a fantastic soundtrack, which director Baz Luhrman has produced. After a rather disappointing start to the album with David Bowie's "NATURE BOY", it picks up with the funky R&B take on LaBelle's classic "LADY MARMALADE", with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink "Voulez Voucher Chez Avec Moir"-ing their way through this hot single. Then the upbeat and exhausting dancefloor destined "BECAUSE WE CAN" from Fatboy Slim keep the action going. The next track is one of the album highlights "SPARKLING DIAMONDS", which is a medley of such tunes as "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" and "Material Girl". The performers are lead actress Nicole Kidman (who is quite a good singer), and minor costars Jim Broadbent, Carloine O'Connor, Natalie Mendoza and Lara Mulcahy. Whenever a song is written by Diane wareen it's either going to be a Number One hit, or a fantastic track or both. Warren, who has penned hits for Aerosmith, Toni Braxton, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Ricky Martin, wrote the funky "RHYTHM OF THE NIGHT", an upbeat latin dance groove with little known Valeria dancing the night away at the Moulin Rouge. From there it slows down for Ewan McGregor's "YOUR SONG". "CHILDREN OF THE REVOLUTION" is a fast paced rock update with U2's front man Bono, Gavin Friday and Maurice Seezer (?) all pumping on the volume. Nicole Kidman pops up a second time for the hearty ballad "ONE DAY I'LL FLY AWAY", and this track has the kind of potential to be a number one single. Beck gives us the odd track "DIAMOND DOGS" followed by another medley, "ELEPHANT LOVE MEDLEY" with McGregor and Kidman making a winning team a singing all about love (Love Lifts Us Up Where We Belong, All We Need Is Love, I Will Always Love You, just to name a few). The two then re-team for the goregoeus duet "COME WHAT MAY". Then things turn strange for the following track "EL TANGO DE ROXANNE". McGregor, Jose Feliciano and the lesser known Jacek Koman get spicy then scary with this haunting tune. Rufus Wainwright delivers the perfect romance tune with "COMPLAINTE DE LA BUTTE". Kidman reappears along with costars John Leguizamo abd Alka Yagnik for the not as good but still worthy of a listen "HINDI SAD DIAMONDS". Then we get a Bowie cooming back with "NATURE BOY" only this time heled out by Massive Attack and to finish the unforgettable listening experience that is Moulin Rouge, a bonus track, a funky more dance remix of Kidman and McGregor's duet "COME WHAT MAY"

The australian version I reviewed, may be different to the US versions.

Free Music Review: One Of The Best Soundtracks Ever!
Hit: 5 Stars

Moulin Rouge is an absolutely marvelous film with absolutely extradinary music. This is that music. All the songs are great, while not all unfortunately are here. Not included is the terrific rendition of Like A Virgin and Spectacular, Spectacular (You have to get Moulin Rouge 2 to have those songs). To start out we have Nature Boy, which I must confess, I usually skip to get to the faster paced songs, starting with, track 2. Lady Marmalade is a well done version of the original with Christina Aquliera, Pink and who knows who else. I think that this song pretty much bought the CD for a lot of people. Which is too bad because there are much better songs here. We than have track 3, Because We Can. This is a bouncy fun little dance track that will be sure to have you tapping your toes to the beat. The lyrics also, are not very complex. Track 4 is Sparkling Diamonds, sung by Nicole Kidman.
The best part of which contains a snippet of Madonna's Material Girl. Track 5, is a spectacular dance track entitled Rhythm Of The Night. It's plenty of fun and sung by a singer named Valerie.
Track 6, surely one of the best tracks on the disc, is a total redo of Elton John's classic 'Your Song'. First let me say that with a voice like that I can't understand why Ewan McGregor isn't
a professional singer, he could have two big jobs, like Jennifer Lopez. This Ewan McGregor version in my opinion even improves on the original Elton John version. Track 7 is all rock. Children Of The Revolution, sung by U2's Bono is a great rock song and Track 8 contrasts it with Nicole Kidman's smooth vocals and easy lyrics on One Day I'll Fly Away. Track 9 is Diamond Dogs, a bouncy fun track sung by Beck. Track 10 is the Elephant Love Medley.
Meaning it's about 6 minutes of the film where Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman are singing favorites like All You Need Is Love, I Could Always Love You, One More Night, and Heroes. All and all a great track and one of the best. Track 11 gives us Come What May, the main love song in the movie. A great song although I personally prefer the Remix, but still quite extradinary.
Track 12 is Roxanne and is magnificent and flows with latin vibes.
Very memorable and cool. Track 13 is one of the more forgettable on the disc, Complainte De Butte which I won't even try to explain more than to say it's sounds sort of opera-esqe. Track 14 has an even more confusing title, Hindi Sad Diamonds and I can't tell you more than to say that it is the scene where the cast of the play is on stage doing one of the final scenes. It is slightly catchy but sort of weird I still think. The last track, 15, is another version of Nature Boy, the one used to close the movie.
All in all this is a very enjoyable CD that is well worth your money.

Free Music Review: Best love movie ever
Hit: 5 Stars

First of all, the song listing is incorrect. It's actually:
1. Nature Boy - the David Bowie version
2. Lady Marmalade
3. Because we can
4. Sparkling diamonds
5. Rhythm of the night
6. Your song
7. Children of the Revolution
8. One day I'll fly away
9. Diamond dogs
10. Elephant love medley
11. Come what may
12. Le Tango de Roxanne
13. Compliante de la butte - (in french... mostly)
14. Hindi sad diamonds
15. Nature boy - weird remix of movie version... I think.
Anyway, I love this movie and the soundtrack is amazing. I do regret that two of my favorite songs from the movie were not included on the soundtrack, which were "like a virgin" and the one when they were making up a musical on the spur of the moment. My favorite songs are 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, and 12. David Bowie is just amazing. But then again, I'm a Labyrinth freak. Anyway, back to this movie. Lady Marmalade wasn't even in this movie. I don't see the point of having the song, period. Because we can is a great dancing song. Sparkling diamonds is basically Diamonds are a girl's best friend, but. different. You'll understand when you hear it. #5, 7, and 9 are fine. they're pretty good, but just pale drastically in comparison to the rest of the cd. Your song is amaxing, because Ewan MacGregor is amazing. Period. No further explanations neccessary. One day I'll fly away is amazing because Nicole Kidman is amazing. You get the point. The elephant love medley is. I don't know how to describe it. It's maybe the best song on the cd because it is a complilation of so many different songs, so the song gets the point across very well, and there's a bit of humor if you know the songs, but it's just a very unique song. Come what may is an amazing duet. The actors are amazing. Le Tango de Roxanne is... the most powerful, emotional song here. Like someone wrote earlier, the best phrase the decribe it is "open the flood gates". There are overlaying melodies, and... oh, it's just wonderful. Compliante de la butte is a very simple, sweet song. It's partly in French and partly in English, but a very nice compliment to the cd, and the perfect way to recover from drowning in the last song. Hindi sad diamonds is very.. odd. It just takes a certain taste to like it, but it is well done as is the rest of the cd. The nature boy remix thing is kind of odd. I wish they had just put the movie version in. Its very beautiful, but on the cd they put this odd background to it, trying to make it into a dance song or something I suppose. Anyway, I'm done. Sorry it took so long. I have a tendency to rant about things I like this much. Hope this helped. Tchao.

Free Music Review: Absolutely Addicting!
Hit: 5 Stars

HELP! I can't stop listening to this soundtrack and there are no signs of me getting sick of it yet! This CD truly embodies the entire movie of Moulin Rouge. Fast, modern, visionary, entertaining, beautiful... words cannot describe it. Quite simply, if you loved the movie you will absolutely love the soundtrack. I saw the movie, then had to get the soundtrack immediately. I bought this CD about 2 weeks ago and listen to it for over an hour every day... it's driven me "mad"! I love it and cannot stop listening to it. I must warn you, however, that it will make you obsessed with Moulin Rouge. I just had to see the movie again after I had listened to the soundtrack so much, so I went back to see the movie again yesterday and I'm still not satisfied, because every time I listen to this soundtrack I want to re-live the movie again. (I'm really looking forward to the release of the DVD.) If there is just ONE movie you see all year, make it Moulin Rouge. If there is just ONE CD you buy this year, or for the next ten years for that matter, make it the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. But just so you can't say that you were never warned, I will once again remind you that one cannot simply listen to this CD once. Okay, now that I've convinced you, I'll throw in some details about the CD: it's a great collection of songs (and performers, for that matter). I was unsure at first about Ewan and Nicole singing, but they prove themselves worthy. Ewan has an especially strong, natural singing voice, and while Nicole isn't Celine Dion, she can get the right notes out and capture the emotions of each song quite well. "Nature Boy" embodies the haunting intro of the movie ("There was a boy, a very strange, enchanted boy...") and of course everyone knows the chart- topping lyrics to "Lady Marmalade", but the songs that you simply cannot miss are "Sparkling Diamonds", "Elephant Love Medley", and "Come What May." These songs are belted out Broadway-style in some of the most memorable scenes of the movie. Every piece included on this soundtrack will remind you of the spectacle of "Moulin Rouge". It is a great collection and I honestly don't have any complaints about it, although I do wish they would have included a few more of the pieces used in the movie on the CD (including "Spectacular! Spectacular" "Like a Virgin" and the song used during the ending credits). Still, this soundtrack is one of the best I've ever heard from any movie or show, and it is absolutely necessary for everyone who loves Moulin Rouge to own a copy.
