Free Music Notes for Moulin Rouge

Free Music Review: Excellent
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one of the best soundtracks I have ever come across, in terms of variety, innovation and general entertainment value.

The eponymous 'Lady Marmalade' aside, this is truly the most outstanding re-working of classic songs, and ranks alongside the 'Forbidden Broadway' series as one of the all-time greats. Particular highlights are David Bowie's 'Nature Boy', full of melancholy and heavy gothic emotion, which never once becomes overstated or cloying, 'Complainte de la Butte' by Rufus Wainwright, a touching and beautiful lovesong sung in french and english, and Beck's rendition of the classic 'Diamond Dogs'.

The surprise here is Ms. Kidman's voice - although technically not the best singer in the world, she manages to pull off her showstopping 'Sparkling Diamonds' with as much charisma and gusto as she does 'One Day I'll Fly Away' - a version, which in my opinion, suits the lyrics and tone of the song better than Randy Crawford's original.

Although not all of the better pieces of music from the movie are on this CD, it's worth owning for the sheer quality of production. People who haven't seen the movie will still be impressed by how different and refreshing this CD is.

Free Music Review: NEW EWAN MCGREGOR FAN(ATIC!)
Hit: 5 Stars

After I saw the movie, I rushed out to buy the soundtrack! I was so happy that they included several songs sung by Nicole Kidman and (SIGH!) Ewan McGregor! (I love men that sing!) Too bad they left out some of them....Guess we'll have to all buy the movie when it comes out! This movie and soundtrack was the pick-me-up that made my summer. I still can't get the songs out of my head. People were actually singing along in the theater(The Elephant Love Medley is the BEST song!!!!) It almost reminded me of the Rocky Horror picture show in spirit, but was so much better.(All the theatrical/bohemian LOVE*TRUTH*BEAUTY stuff) I highly recomend buying this soundtrack. It will help you remember the color and fun of the movie, not to mention the romance, which is what summer is all about! It has also made me a huge fan of Mr. McGregor, who shines brilliantly in this movie. He is wonderful and so romantic. I have an new appreciation for him and have even gone back and watched movies that I'd seen before and loved them even more. (I already knew that Kidman was amazing, and she doesn't let you down!) I hope everyone enjoys this CD as much as I did!

Free Music Review: Glam tracks galore! Impressive!
Hit: 5 Stars

Remember the last time when the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet was such a big hit. This time is no exception. The soundtrack is filled with glam rock, hip trip and stunning musical tracks.
The Missy Eillott produced #1 hit Lady Marmalade starts the soundtrack off but this is not the highlight. The tracks by actors Ewan McGreggor and Nicole Kidman are the real treat. With little prior singing experiences, the duo thrills and dazzles with an array of songs. Nicole shines in the fusion of Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend and Material Girl. She gives her best in the relational One Day I'll Fly Away, Elephant Love Medley & Come What May. Similarly for Ewan on Elton John's Your Song& El Tango De Roxanne plus his collaborations with Nicole.
Oter standout tracks include the Timaland-produced, Beck-performed remake of David Bowie's Diamond Dogs. Even Miss Daine Warren and David Forster sound so much more incredible here. Can't believe Rhythm of The Night was a Diane Warren composition.
Don't hesistate, Moulin Rogue is one of those movies u gotta watch and its soundtrack u gotta buy. Relish!

Free Music Review: Whoa!
Hit: 5 Stars

Gosh, I loved this CD so much! I saw the movie first, and then bought the CD, and then saw the movie another two times. I guess I won't gush over the film too much, (because I should be doing that in the movie section, the CD area)but I just want to say that it deserved much more attention than it got. Hopefully many more films of this genre will follow (though this just may be wishful thinking)

In any event, the soundtrack impressed me a great deal. I have to confess that I only really play the music that evokes a real "musical" (thats mean I left out the uh... "Diamond Dog" and "Because We Can Can Can" tracks). Though I really do like the "Lady Marmalade". I have to agree with everyone else when I say that I really miss some songs that were left out, like "The Spectacular Spectacular" and more than anything else "The Show Must Go On". Aside from being an inspiring piece, the lyrics detail a very important theme in the movie, with great impact.

In closing: Please make a full CD!?! Pretty please?!?

Free Music Review: Actors who can actually sing!
Hit: 5 Stars

I hate it when I see movies where the actors in it are supposed to sing but they cannot - they sound awful! And all the while I'm thinking: "Jeez, guys! You cannot sing! Stick with the acting thing!" But just listen to Ewen McGregor and Nicole Kidman sing...they can actually SING! And they do it very well, too. All of the songs on this MOULIN ROUGE soundtrack by Ewen McGregor and Nicole Kidman are excellent because they have strong, solid vocal talents and Ewen McGregor's voice is so beautiful! And of course, I love the "Lady Marmalade" song by Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil' Kim, and Mya - they all have awesome vocals and they are the perfect combination. The song is very catchy, too...if you haven't noticed by now. The other songs on this soundtrack are OK, but the songs by Ewen McGregor, Nicole Kidman, and "Lady Marmalade" are definitely the best and the highlights of the soundtrack. I can't wait to see the film - it looks really good - and the soundtrack is just as amazing. Go see the film and buy the soundtrack. I can gaurentee you'll love both!
