Free Music Notes for Mr BungleFree Music Review: It is all clear now. Hit: 5 Stars
My understanding of the universe is complete now after listening to Mr. Bungle. XM, I love u! I am a fan of "Weirdness Special X" and it was one afternoon after listening to Mrs. Miller singing a Beatles song that all of the sudden the sky opened and Pink Cigarette from Mr. Bungle's California played. I was like, "damn! This music is delightfully weird!"
I immediately proceeded to my closest Virgin Megastore and I got the self titled Mr. Bungle's first CD. My reaction? It was like being strapped to a chair getting a haircut from a deformed and scary clown from hell whistling a scary melody and being terrified of what the hell bound clown can do to me with the scissors. Do you get the message? I could not move a single inch until the CD was over and when it finally was, I had to listen to it again.
I bought Disco Volante and California as well. Buy them! They are well worth it!!!! Thank you, Mr. Bungle. I am a complete human being now.
Free Music Review: Travolta! Hit: 5 Stars
There are lots of people running around in funny masks these days. that part won't excite you too much, especially since we know who was behind the masks these days. but this stuff is special. before this album, nobody thought a guy in a scary mask would whip out a saxophone after humping some keyboards. nope, it had never been done before. sure it's been done since, but these guys did it right.
if you grew up watching cartoons and your sense of music is permanently warped by the background music and effect noises from those cartoons, you will absolutely love this album. it's still my favorite Bungle album. and in many ways, the creepiest. so go ahead, close the curtains, turn down the lights, and enjoy a pleasantly demented evening with Mr. Bungle. If you can find a bootleg of a live concert, you should get that too. they would do different versions to the songs when playing live. it's good like bacon.
Free Music Review: This is what the radio should sound like. Hit: 5 Stars
With variances ranging from sould r&b to thrash metal, to the always lovely funk bass; this is what God intended for man. Boy is it good! More than 75% of bands out there these days started off by listend to Mike Patton's whitty voice. Why just look at Incubus's first 3 albums: (You couldn't tell the difference). Personally I believe Incubus used to be a million times better: they were what Earshot is to Tool though. A rip-off but still sounding good. Incubus's stuff now (which they claim is more "mature" sucks hardcore besides Drive). Anyway this album rubbed on Tool, Deftones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, KoRn, a bunch of bands. Sadly many crappier than others. However this album is NOT for everyone: it is an aqcuired taste. Love it or hate it you can't ignore it. Like this? Listen to Nuclear Rabbit (my pals band: you can order it from here), Primus, and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.
Free Music Review: Mr. Bungle is the pure essence of all music wrapped neatly o Hit: 5 Stars
Mr. Bungle is the pure essence of all music wrapped neatly into a chunk of 74 minutes. On this album you will go on a musical journey of mind blowing madness. You will laugh and cringe at the same instance. You will have a brain hemorhage with all the blasts of music. Every note will make your eyes melt a little bit more until they are plates of cheese. If you are fed up with the crap they are playing on radio then buy any one of the Mr. Bungle albums or any Mike Patton's projects. Mike Patton is a musical genious/mad scientist. He molds together any form of music and creates something soothing, well something nice. So if you like Primus, Mike Patton, Naked City, Faith No More, or any odd band then get this album. There is only one song I don't care for, but I kind of like, that is Girls Of Porn. Everything else is A-OK with me. Oh by the way I AM THE PUMPKIN KING
Free Music Review: if you thought insane clown posse are scary.... Hit: 5 Stars
Mr Bungle, the self-titled debut from this California band, is simply the best thing I've heard. Every song has countless influences - hardcore, jazz, punk, porn, polka, you name it. Many of you have probably heard Faith No More (and if you haven't chances are you wouldn't know about this band either), but this is vocalist Mike Patton's real band, while FNM was just a side project he used to release his listenable stuff. This probably even beats their third album California. It definitely doesn't have much apparent song structure, unlike California, but it always makes sense, unlike their sophomore Disco Volante. Every song will amaze and astound you, that is, if you have an open mind. If you're on a steady diet of Britney Spears and BSB, on the other hand, it will give you nightmares. Fave songs - Carousel, Egg, Stubb (a Dub), The Girls Of Porn.
