This album is by far one of the most original pieces of music I have ever heard. These guys go above and beyond in creativity. Best way to describe it in a certain form of genre is ska-metal-freak show schizo clown music.
The best way to listen to this album is from start to finish. Put it in not when you're in the mood for something soothing and relaxing, but when you're in the mood for something equally as crazy as it is technical as it is funny as it is good music. They don't go overboard with the technical aspect of the music, but it's quite apparent that it's there, it's just done at the exact right dose. However, many might say that it does go a little overboard on madness! Some of it just sounds plain deranged! But, I love it! Maybe you will too!
Free Music Review: A musical masterpiece...

It is difficult to write a review of such a brilliant piece of work as Mr Bungle's debut album. All one can do is advise (and I strongly do) any fan of music (as opposed to one single genre) to buy this record, as it explores and synthesizes an incredible range of musical styles with such an uncanny sense of melody and arrangement that left me breathless on first hearing it. It really is a tour de force in that sense. While much can be said about the themes of the lyrics, it can't be said that they're badly-written; Mike Patton has a keen sense of the surreal to go with the humour.
If you are into groovy, inventive and melodic music, it will be hard for you not to love this giant gem.
It is definitely on my list of top 5 (modern music) albums of all time.

Patton and his buddies created a winner. This, their first cd, is the best out of the three. Then it would go Disco Volante then Cali. If they are to realese another one in the next year I am hoping it has more of the SPAZISH stuff as in self titled and DV. If your not a fan of FNM or of Mr Patton, you should still go out and get this cd. Its a whole new expierience. I found out about them in middle school from my older bro, and they've really messed with my brain the last 5 years. I myself enjoy lightin up a fatty, sittin back, and goin from "Carousel" to "Dead Goon", the two best tracks on that cd. And if im doin shrooms i'd prefer "Squeeze me Macarooni"...if you're a bung fan you'll know what im talkin about:PEACEFree Music Review: What the--?!

I usually write pretty long reviews, but a review for this album is futile. Nothing anyone says can prepare you for the experience of hearing Mr. Bungle for the first time. Mr. Bungle is a genre of music unto itself. Imagine demonic clowns unleashing cartoonish musical chaos meant to destroy your mind. That's about all I can say. Appreciating the demented mind of the crazily brilliant Mike Patton is impossible without hearing this release (you probably know him from Faith No More). Amazon's rating system of stars is meaningless in the world of Mr. Bungle. Still, I give it 5-stars because that feels about right. There's 73 minutes of material here, and in that time, your world will change...probably for the worse, but maybe -- just maybe -- for the better.Free Music Review: Babbling Senseless

I listen to a wide array of music, from Barenaked Ladies to 311 to Spin Doctors to N.E.R.D. to whatever...anyway...my point is....if you can appreciate TALENT then you will enjoy this CD. Most of my friends don't quite 'get' Mr. Bungle and think it is just messed up. But when you can go from 'death metal' to 'classical' in 2 seconds then you obviously know something most artists don't. This is the most original band you will ever hear and if you can appreciate what they do musically then you will enjoy it. But if you ONLY like Barenaked Ladies type music or ONLY like 311 or ONLY like N.E.R.D. or etc you will not like it. To enjoy Mr. Bungle takes a certain appreciation of talent and musical ability. That being said, this CD totally rocks dude. ha haha
