Free Music Review: Best live act shows why
Hit: 5 Stars

Since a few years ago, every Muse record is a must. This is no exception. A double disk featuring the "Black Holes and Revelations" tour concert in Wembley. In a CD with the best songs and a DVD with an hour and a half of first rate footage.

Matthew Bellamy is a genius, in very sense of the word. He plays the piano and the guitar as a God, and sings with one of the widest ranges and higher registers in modern music.

In a fun note, the concert begins with "Knights of Cydonia" and finishes with "Take a bow", since they are respectively the last and first of their previous record.

Standouts: "Hysteria", "Time is running out", "Supermassive black hole" and the magnificent "Unintended" from early work: Showbiz.

The concert sounds great (the CD sound quality is better), and looks amazing. Only complaint: bad transfer resolution: with many pixelated objects and blurred images during the concert, specially in the fastest shots. Lets hope for a later HD Release of this concert. I'll buy it again!

Free Music Review: The best live act in the business
Hit: 5 Stars

I had the luxury to see Muse live in Washington DC last year, my son pleaded with me to go see this band I had never heard of (although I did recognize a few songs once I got there). This was the most eye-opening and exciting performance I have seen in a long long time, and this in a year that included a Rush performance as well as two Police events in Stockholm and Washington DC.

Do yourself a favor and find out for yourself why Muse won the Q award for best live act in 2007. It is all here in a glorious production with DTS 5.1 sound. This band has it all. Amazing muscians, Matt Belamy is a certified genius on the guitar, and to top it off, he plays the keyboards as a concert pianist. Amazing vocals, increadibly strong material and a bass/drums backbone second to no other band, maybe with the exception of Rush. But the icing on the cake which makes the act complete is the increadible energy these guys bring to their live events. Live music does not get much better than this.

Free Music Review: An all-time live album...
Hit: 5 Stars

One word: chills. Even a non-fan of Muse will have a tough time making it through the opening "Knights of Cydonia" without being swept away by the blistering energy. If you have had the fortune of seeing this remarkable band live, this set does a fine job capturing some of the incredible power they bring to the stage, and has proven a fine way to introduce the uninitiated to what live acts aspire to inspire.

The DVD does a far better job of lifting off (the Prokofiev from "Romeo and Juliet," while a lovely musical nod to introduce the band and the first song, is an over-long and somewhat baffling opening track on the CD), but both discs keep you riveted to the ending chords of "Take a Bow." WIth tracks spanning their studio albums (with a heavy bias towards the last two), there's a good sampling of their musical range, with the strength of their live stage presence weaving the whole effort together.

Enough words. I need to go listen again now. Buy it! Enjoy!

Free Music Review: I know, because I was there
Hit: 5 Stars

It's quite disappointing to see some people dismissing this as another live album/DVD not deserving of attention.

This is a true reflection of the energy, dynamism, creativity and imaginsation of MUSE. I'm old enough to remember "Live & Dangerous" being considered one of the best live albums, but listening to it now it sounds bland compared to MUSE at Wembley.

The camera work and editing is terrific and completely reflects the atmosphere and energy in the band and the crowd. The frantic cutting in Stockholm Syndrome reminds me of the mosh pit.

I suspect those not impressed have never seen them live. Go see them then revisit the DVD. If it doesn't light up your eyes then you have no soul.

CD: There isn't a duff track
DVD: I can skip Soldiers Poem. Don't miss Knights of Cydonia, Feeling Good, Blackout, Plug In Baby, Stockholm Syndrome

Free Music Review: Great Live album that showcases some of Muse's best music...BUT...
Hit: 5 Stars

...There are better live versions of only a few older songs like NewBorn, Muscle Museum and Hysteria from Glastonbury '04 and Bonnaroo Disc 2 that have better improvisations and solo's by Bellamy that may spoil the listener when hearing this disc. The new born on this disc is a beat slower and not as crunchy and the solo is good, but the glastonbury solo was LEGENDARY. Also Butterflies & Hurricanes has the piano solo, but again, less notes are played, missed, and I again yearned to hear the glastonbury live that is much more impressive. Beyond that, you get great versions of older songs, and newer songs never recorded on disc live, like Knights of Cydonia, that opens this great disc. The DVD alone is worth it, DTS, widescreen, and shows the full concert. BUY IT NOW. SEE 'EM LIVE, GET ABSOLUTION TOUR IN GLASTONBURY CD/DVD...!!! But if your a real fan, you probably already have it...
