Free Music Review: One of the greatest Italian prog albums

Museo Rosenbach's Zarathustra from 1973 will hold dear to my heart as this was, along with Osanna's Palepoli, my first exposure in to the world of Italian prog. This was back in 1993 when I was beginning to explore beyond the Yes/ELP world of prog rock. Zarathustra is nothing short of the ultimate Italian prog masterpiece. Lots of great guitar, Hammond organ and Mellotron work, as well as some great vocals in Italian. And I can't get enough of that wonderful '70s Italian atmosphere. The band gets compared to ELP, but don't ask me why, as Museo Rosenbach doesn't remind me of any particular group. There are just four long cuts, one a side length suite. Not a dead moment on this whole album, there is no particular passage that's better than the next, since it's all equally great and meant to be listened to as a whole. The album was inspired by the works of German philospher Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, who unfortunately inspired far too many extreme right wing political groups and thinking out there. I cannot say where Museo Rosenbach stood on political issues (let's hope the right wingers simply distorted Nietzsche's philosphies to their warped views). Neither am I sure what was being sung here since it's all in Italian. There are so many Italian prog albums that get the claim of the greatest: Banco's Io Sono Nato Libero, Locanda Delle Fate's Forse Le Lucciole Non Si Amano Più, Semiramis' Dedicato A Frazz, but of them all, I think Museo Rosenbach's Zarathustra truly deserves to be at the very top. If you're a lover of Italian prog and this is not in your collection, I suggest you get this album without hesitation.
