Free Music Notes for Music From the Motion Picture Josie And The PussycatsFree Music Review: Purrrrrrrrr-fect Feline Frenzy. Hit: 5 Stars
I just have "Three Small words" to say. Actually, I have Four. "Josie and the Pussycats". Even the title makes you interested, at least, in my case. Even though the movie got bad reviews, I saw it anyway, and bought the soundtrack the next day. It rocks! "Dujour" is a boy band that sounds like NSYNC, with the Taste of O-Town, and a Backstreet Boy stardom begining. Their two songs don't sound half bad, but the best songs are by the Starring band. It Rocks. It's cleaner than any song my fellow middle/ high school peers listen to, with a bad girl flavor, almost. There is nothing profain in it, it's just funny, bubble gum sweet music that wil make you bob your head and, if you start to listen, you'll start humming the tunes everywhere and yearn to get home from school so you can listen to it. ( And I've had it for only one day!) It's just a great soundtrack that's better than even Greece!

... this is what real rock music sounds like, since you seem to have forgotten.I passed over the movie when it was in theatres, but after seeing it on video I had to get the soundtrack - 10 tracks of great guitar driven power-pop, plus the lovely (but sappy) ballad "You Don't See Me," which you'll either love or hate depending on your life experience. Unfotunately the cd is padded out with two tracks of boy-band nonsense, so just skip them and rock out with the reworked (now even sassier!) version of the Josie and the Pussycats theme song. Ex-Letters to Cleo singer Kay Hanley provides yelping vocals (Rolling Stone has described her voice as "bratty but sweet")that capture the free-spirited excitement of the film, altough her voice isn't used to its full capacity. For that check out the Cleo's debut Aurora Gory Alice. All around one of my favorite records.
Free Music Review: A Fun, Rocking Album Hit: 5 Stars
This is a really great soundtrack, to start. The songs are an interesting mix of pop, rock, and punk, and they are all entertaining to listen to. Now, the girls that play the Pussycats in the movie aren't the ones responsible for the music on this CD; the band Letters to Cleo is. Anyways, back to the album. The best track is probably "Three Small Words," the theme to the movie. It's a fun-filled, girly, punk-rock melody that's easy to fall in love with and hard to tire of. Other listen-worthy tracks include "Pretend to be Nice," "Spin Around," and "I Wish you Well." Anyone who likes the sounds of Blink 182, No Doubt, Veruca Salt, or Fenix TX will surely find something on this record that pleases them. The songs are ear-pleasing and fun to sing along to. It's definitely worth the money you'll pay for it. Enjoy!
Free Music Review: These Kitties Rock! Hit: 5 Stars
I was in love with the movie when I saw the first trailer. I downloaded the demo for '3 Small Words' and played & memorized it. I saw the movie more than once. I think what hooked me was the music and the cuteness of it all. If there was one album I needed, THIS was it! I bought the album as soon as it was available in stores. When I learned that Kay Hanley from Letters to Cleo sang the songs on the album, I thought it was all the better! I love her songs, she's just my type of chick-punk-rock music that I wish I could imitate. Needless to say I played the album over and over and danced as much as possible. About the only thing that ruins it are the 2 boy-band songs that sound just like NSTINK and the like. Despite that, buy this album if you love punk-rock and especially punk-chicks!
Free Music Review: Spunky punky grrrl rock from a very fun movie! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a soundtrack with attitude :). The movie was absolutely hilarious and poked fun at all sorts of things in pop culture (including itself), the lead actresses were great and the silliness perfectly silly; but it was the soundtrack that really sold me! The songs are catchy, rocky and sung with attitude that made my friends and I want to rush out and join a girl rock band. Definitely *not* the Spice Girls or Destiny's Child. Even the goofy songs spoofing boy-bands by the movie's Du Jour are fun (and perfect. I could hear any boyband from NKOTB to Backstreet doing one of these "winners" ;P. Scary thought.) My favorite songs are "Three Words" which seems to embody the Josie attitude, and their cover of "Money".
