Free Music Review: Can't go wrong with Fly or Die

The Neptunes, the multi-talented force behind some of mainstream's most popular hits, does it yet again with the diverse yet rockin "Fly or Die" their 2004 release.
Pharrell's no stranger to the business by any means, and he and partner Chad Hugo have crafted quite a few great songs with the likes of Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Justin Timberlake among others. Their debut "In Search Of...." found them breaking new ground and experimenting with rythyms, not unlike another awesome producer known as Timbaland (aka Tim Mosley). But it's this album, "Fly or Die", that truly showcases both Pharrell's and Chad's talents strongly. Not only is it hip-hop, but you also get a good mix of funk, alternative rock and R&B all in one clever and succcessful package. Standout songs for me include "Drill Sergeant", "Wonderful Place", "Backseat Love" and "Maybe". The whole album is definitely worth a listen and should offer something to everyone.
With Pharrell's smooth and suave vocals and great beats to match, you can't go wrong with giving "Fly or Die" a listen. The songs on this will tide me over until Pharrell's solo release. A great album.
Free Music Review: The neptunes at the top of their game...

I have been a N.E.R.D. fan since the first time I heard In Search Of which was probably late 2001 to early 2002. (...) Musically and lyrically, N.E.R.D. stepped up their game for Fly or Die. It sounds like the experimented with some new sounds too. The songs are serious, deep, and you notice something new everytime you listen. The music is unlike anything the neptunes have ever produced.
My problem with this album is the fact that they didn't have any rap/rock sounding songs like "Am I High" or "Bobby James." Still, everything on the album works so well you can easily overlook the fact that they all but abandoned their hip-hop sound for this one.
The other problem is the filler. It seems like there are one too many songs. In my opinion, Don't Worry About It, and Backseat Love didn't need to make the album. Bonus tracks like Waiting for You and Find My Way sound much better than those two songs.
Overall, they aced this CD. It should be in every CD collection. N.E.R.D. fans shouldn't play this CD expecting the it to sound like their debut album. Hip hop fans should listen with an open mind and enjoy the ride...
Free Music Review: Late one night

It all started late one night; I was up watching videos late at night when I happened to catch "She Want's To Move". I thought to myself, "this song seems pretty cool." I hopped on my computer and downloaded the single via P2P software. I began listening to it more and more and it grew on me. N.E.R.D was then added to my repertoire of A list artists. Then one day a friend of mine showed up with a burned copy of Neptunes Presents....Clones and with prior knowledge of Pharrell and Chad I gave it a shot. I was overwhelmed with their behind the scenes genius. It was then added to my repertoire as well. I decided to push the limits and downloaded a few mp3's from Fly or Die(for lack of proper funding)and fell in love. The combination of rock and hip hop created the perfect blend of musical bliss. The move from drum machines to live instruments only made the feel and sound that much greater. With tracks like Maybe, Fly or Die, Don't Worry About It, She Want's To Move, and last but not least, Breakout, you can't help but love. Fly or Die by N.E.R.D appeals to all audiences. N.E.R.D. aka the Neptunes are brilliant... they have the best work that i have heard in years... their production is way way way different from their counterparts Dr. Dre, DJ Quik, DJ CLue, 9th Wonder, Timberland, etc etc... they have probably the only rock-rap influence in music today that no one wants to touch...
I think more and more artist should try a rock beat with hard core flows and i think it would get a good response... This album is not gettin the response i was hoping for...
I LOVE PHARRELL'S voice... its different! he is not trying to be the next Luther Vandross or Usher he is just him... and to be honest he has a good flow...
This LP is awesome with guest appearences by Good charolette and the CLipse... I think the best track is probably the first single "she wants to move" I love that song...
I just wish the people in the world could give more props to artist trying to be them instead of something they are not... Well the NEptunes will be here for a while so someday people will like their true kind of music...

This fantastic cd is a (((must have))) for everyones cd collections weither they are a big fan of N.E.R.D or not. This orriginal album shows alot of talent and includes a number of styles of music, So it suits everyones taste in music from hiphop to rock. There are 12 brilliant songs that use live instruments througout the album, This gives the album a happy and feel good characteristic. All the songs show the feelings and oppinions of chad, shae and ofcorse the wonderfull pharell williams. This cd contrasts to there last album "In Search of.... ", this is more hiphop, as "fly or die" seems to be more rock. however dispite this the album is still fantastic and contains the Original N.E.R.D flavor. i am very hapy with this cd and i think you will be to. it takes a small while to get used to the new style but now i relly love "fly or die". basically you eaither like it or you dont, but you will never know until you try it...SO wot r u wating for get your copy now before they all sell out!!!!!! i would give this album 9/10
