Free Music Notes for Fly Or DieFree Music Review: N.E.R.D...Just themselves Hit: 5 Stars
Usually, the infamous producing team The Neptunes had a certain sound that fit all the artists they produced for. However, when it came to producing "themselves" as N.E.R.D., putting them in a genre is harder than it seems. From "In Search Of..." to "Fly Or Die", N.E.R.D. has grown as a group as well as individuals. Every track on "Fly Or Die" takes you on a trip about life. And when matched with the enhanced CD portion, the playlist pictures just make the experience that much better. But dont think that N.E.R.D. would just leave you with 12 tracks to love. There is more to "Fly Or Die" than meets the eye. Hidden tracks are loaded on this album, some of which I wish were tracks on their own. My personal favorite would be "Wonderful Place" and the hidden track that follows it. If you want listen to something different than "mainstream" music that is promoted today and listen to something quite unique, "Fly Or Die" is for you.
Free Music Review: Bow down to the NERDs! Hit: 5 Stars
I listened to the album on there website before I bought it, and absolutely loved it after the second listening. I've noticed that about NERD. They come so different, each album, each song, that they take a few spins to solidify the groove for me. I'm accustomed to their sound more then some, so it doesn't take much convincing. Some tracks like Jump, I immediately loved. And the first track Don't worry about it, has a nice Jimi Hendrix influence and feel. She wants to move is fun, and great for just rocking out to. I like the way they switch up the tracks. It's as if your listening to three different songs in one. They've always been good at that. Many may find this album is more rock then rap, but it's a refreshing thing. The Neptunes are hip-hop, and NERD is rock. This is NERD at their best. It's rock and roll, hot, and au curant (how ever you spell that). One of the best of 04. The songs flow nicely, and everyone will be bumpin' this in homes, cars, BBQ's, parties, or wherever you want to have a good time.
Free Music Review: Fly Or Die. One of The Best Albums I own. Period Hit: 5 Stars
From songs like Drop it like it's hot with snoop to Beautiful with Brittney spears anything Pharrell Williams helps produce is sure to be a hit. So what happens when Pharrell and other N.E.R.D member Chad Hugo get together to produce an album? Simply put you get one of the most creative and original albums every put together. Taking from their Hip-Hop background N.E.R.D blends in classic rock styling from the likes of Steely Dan in the song She likes to move with a prominent funk guitar interwoven with a catchy vocal background. Taking you on a journey through virtually every style of music the album fly or die excels on every level, any fan of N.E.R.D or other songs produced by Pharrell should definitely pick this album up. However don't be discouraged if you don't fall in love with it initially just like all the finer things in life this music is an acquired taste. Before you know it you'll find this CD a permanent addition to your collection.
Free Music Review: FLY OR DIE FLIES OF COURSE!!! Hit: 5 Stars
MY BOYS DO IT AGAIN. FLY OR DIE DELIVERS THE SAME SPIN AS "IN SEARCH" OF, BUT WITH NEW FUN AND HOT TRACKS. CHAD, PHARRELL AND SHAY DO NOT STRAY FROM THEIR STYLE JUST TO SELL MORE RECORDS,WHICH MANY ARTISTS DO. THIS IS WHY I AND MANY OTHERS FELL IN LOVE WITH N.E.R.D. IN THE FIRST PLACE. N.E.R.D. RISES TO THE OCCASION AGAIN WITH THEIR FUNKY,UPBEAT AND UNIQUE STYLE OF MUSIC, APPEALING TO ALL OF US WHO WANT MORE. TRAKKIES (N.E.R.D. FANS) HOLD ON TO YOUR SEATBELTS ONCE AGAIN. FLY OR DIE DEBUTED AT #6 ON BILLBOARD 200, AND I'M NOT SURPRISED, CAUSE I CAN'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT LISTENING TO THRASHER, SHE WANTS TO MOVE, AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. I LOVE FLY OR DIE AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM AT THE ELECTRIC FACTORY IN PHILADELPHIA. YOU MUST BUY FLY OR DIE (ESPECIALLY IF YOUR TIRED OF HEARING THE SAME OLD KIND OF MUSIC CURRENTLY BEING PLAYED OVER AND OVER AGAIN ON THE RADIO). N.E.R.D.'s FLY OR DIE IS TRULY REFRESHING.
Free Music Review: Great, melodic music. Fav of 2004 (so far) Hit: 5 Stars
First of all, let me just say I am not a big fan of the Neptunes. I love a lot of their production, but I am not the type of person who goes and buys a CD just because they produced some beats on it. N.E.R.D. on the other hand, I think are genius. I bought their first, "In Seach Of" on a whim and it became an instant favorite (I still listen to it today). Fly or Die is not only musically and sonically better, but the lyrics and ideas behind them have matured and developed. I honestly think that if these guys release another 2 or 3 albums as good as their first 2, they could receive the kind of attention Eminem or Outkast get from the press. On a side note, a lot of reviews I read for this album mention the Steely Dan influence, and it is really major. I love Steely Dan too so this fit right in my collection. Besides Kanye West's "College Dropout", this is my favorite hip-hop CD of the year.
