Free Music Notes for Nacho Libre AlbumFree Music Review: A collection of omissions Hit: 3 Stars
Nacho Libre was a blast to see and has now entered my top ten list of favorite films. One of the elements that made this movie so successful was the great music score that accompanied the film. After the credits rolled, I could hardly wait to see what the songs were, and there were a truckload. Luckily for Nacho Libre fans of the soundtrack, a CD was released for the movie, but whoever edited and chose the selections for the CD either didn't watch the film or has a problem with knowing what a good tune is. The Nacho Libre CD won't be remembered for the various musical selections on it, but what was left out.
The music editors of this CD have selected to leave out a lot of the catchy music and replace them with spoken dialog and dubious choices. I really don't know why they dropped the ball on this as they could have done a much better job in the selection process. True, some of the main theme music is left in such as "Religious Man," "Ramses Suite," and "10,000 Pesos", but the whole movie had so much good music, that it is really a shame that the better tracks were not also included in the CD. I could have done without the dialog tracks and Jack Black's "Encarnacion." The CD isn't all bad, however, and Nacho fans will like what little good music is on there, but this CD could have been much, much better.
