I have always been a Heart fan and this CD is very refreshing and more of the same great music you can always expect from Nancy Wilson.
Free Music Review: Nancy, I think I love you Hit: 4 Stars
Although I've been a Heart fan for years (being old enough to have been a fan when they originally came out) I recently dialed up some Heart videos on YouTube, and now I'm on a whole new kick. After purchasing Heart's "Alive In Seattle" DVD, I found myself wishing the camera would just stay on Nancy as she kicks, rocks and shreds on guitar. Of course having been totally smitten, I just had to have this CD. Nancy Wilson is caricatured on the CD cover's poster as an angel with a small devil off to the side. This seems to be a fair representation, as she sounds like an angel when singing, but you can tell she's a bit mischeivous as well. After many of the songs she giggles a bit which makes things seem more personal and draws you in. This is a very laid back CD and is just perfect for those times when you want to just kick back and relax. Her singing and guitar playing are without a doubt top of the line. To be fair, I don't find this to be an album I would rave about, but it really is definitly worth having in your collection to fill out your more mellow moments.
Free Music Review: Nancy Wilson, McCabes Hit: 3 Stars
Nancy Wilson is a fantastic performer.
This recording is terrible.
The performance deserved better, because she is really putting on a great show. It is a shame that there is so much distortion and basically a lifeless recording of what was a wonderful night. Rate it 5 starts for the performance, and 1 star for the recording. Most of that credit probably goes to the mastering guys. Who knows what they had to do to drag a somewhat usable sound from the original tracks.
