Free Music Notes for Napoleon DynamiteFree Music Review: Numerous Reasons To Love This Soundtrack! Hit: 5 Stars
Like the film "Napoleon Dynamite," you can totally love this soundtrack from so many different angles. Not only does this movie contain music that will bring you visions of Napoleon bicycling into town with Kip in tow, it also contains soundbytes of the film's most memorable quotes.
The music here is such an enjoyable mix of tunes from the nostalgic pop groups like Bow Wow Wow and Alphaville to the musical score by John Swihart. When I first listened to Swihart's music on this CD, it hit me just how much he contributed to the atmosphere of the film. On top of that, over the past few years I unexpectedly discovered the joys of listening to The Moog Synthesizer music of the 1960s and 70s. Intentional or not, Swihart's music beautifully captures and salutes the spirit of great Moog pioneers like Stan Free, Jean-Jacques Perrey, Gershon Kingsley and, of course, Bob Moog. I am so glad the Moog fad has never faded! My favorite amongst Swihart's tunes arrives on track #29, a pretty & exotic piece called "Nap Store Video."
There are so many great sound bytes from the film, including a hysterical scene that did not make the theatrical cut but found new life on the DVD in the "deleted scenes" department. Amongst other classic lines on the soundtrack include Napoleon's current event report on Nessie, Kip talking about Internet babes and Cage Fighting, and Napoleon telling his classmates about hunting wolverines in Alaska!
At the end of track #42, don't be in a hurry to rip the CD from the player... there is the hidden track afterwards, which is Kip's awesome "technology wedding song!"
Not every tune in the film made it to the soundtrack. While the missing tunes are noticeable, I cannot honestly say the CD is any worse off for it. The combination of tunes & quotes makes this soundtrack sheer pleasure for even the most finicky Napoleon Dynamite fan. Napoleon Dynamite is my favorite film of 2004, and I am enjoying the soundtrack just as much as I did the film!
Free Music Review: New genre introduced for film-making Hit: 5 Stars
I thought not much of it...
...before I watched it.
Then it became a revolution: Napoleon was an instant classic.
But this is no Wizard of Oz, Godfather, Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings mind you. And this is not Ace Ventura, Austin Powers, or any other Comedy. This is something beyond comedy. It's a new genre.
The only reason one would label it a comedy is because it makes you laugh. But no, comedies make people laugh because it takes a certain level of understanding or logic or knowledge to understand the jokes they make. They are funny because of irony, puns, hints of stupidity and sometimes crudeness.
This is not funny because of irony, puns, crudeness or just hints of stupidity (while some may argue that the film is just stupid). It is because of the personalities contained in the film. The way John Swihart molded these characters is a masterpiece.
When I finished watching this movie I discovered I had a headache, but I never wanted this movie to end. You fall in love with the characters, and feel like they are your best friends, regardless of whether you are a "nerd" or if you are dubbed most popular. The relationship between viewer and actor is linked in a way like never before. So you end up with a warm feeling inside and a funny feeling, knowing that life can be stupid sometimes, just like this story.
Free Music Review: Flippin' sweet soundtrack of 2004's best film yet! Hit: 5 Stars
Well, the kid's review below pretty much says it all, but allow me to elaborate: The soundtrack to the film "Napoleon Dynamite" is a great, great album for a number of reasons. First, it is loaded with well-chosen dialogue from the film--and a lot of it, too (15 of the 42 tracks, to be exact). You get Napoleon reminiscing about hunting wolverines with a 12-gauge, Kip professing his desire to become a cagefighter and plenty others. Second, the songs on the album are quirky, original and eclectic--much like the film--and fill out the album rather well (though I wish the White Stripes song wasn't omitted.) Finally, John Swihart has composed a score that could very easily stand on its own as a separate album. His synth-cheesy interludes, funky 18-second beats and even a remake of "The A-Team" theme put him in the ranks with Wes Anderson collaborator Mark Mothersbaugh and Jon Brion, who scored "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" among others.
All in all, the soundtrack to "Napoleon Dynamite" is a great addition to any music collection, and I highly recommend it.
Free Music Review: the soundtrack with a bit of everything Hit: 5 Stars
This CD has it all, from some delicious 80s pop favorites (The Promise, Only You, and Forever Young) to the A-Team theme (not just a clip; the whole thing!) to funky dance music. It also has dialogue clips from several of the funniest scenes of the movie, such as Napoleon's homage to the Loch Ness Monster ("our underwater ally") and his creative compliment to Deb's figure ("Are you drinking 1% because you think you're fat? 'Cos you're not!").
This unusual effort, bringing together the musical score (remember that funky organ music?), the pop soundtrack, and the most memorable clips, has the very fun effect of letting you enjoy your favorite parts of the movie whether you're driving or pretending to work. What it doesn't provide is a consistent mood (which, if you want, you should get the Garden State soundtrack instead). But this CD is so full to chuckles and smiles that I don't mind. As Napoleon might say, It's pretty sweet. It's awesome. It's...it's incredible.
Free Music Review: Yes! This movie is sweet and so is the soundtrack ! Hit: 5 Stars
If you're a fan of the movie. Then this is a must-have if you love the dance scene with forever young than you need this CD, because it's the only place I can find the song. I love that tune and I love that sceen, and you can't get it anywhere else.
The dialogue clips from the movie are great the first time I have ever seen that included in the soundtrack CD. The only problem is, some of the great ones from the movie that I personally love aren't on the disk.
thats not a problem, you can set up your sound card to record what comes out of your speakers on your computer. You can play the DVD and then use Windows sound recorder or other audio capture program to record your favorite clips.
How much you wanna make a bet I can throw football over those mountains!
Over there in that pigpen i found a couple of shashoi arrow heads
Have fun
