Free Music Review: Nas Is Like.........
Hit: 5 Stars

Nas is like one of the most consistent rappers and continually releases albums which have you arguing with ya friends about which cd is the tightest or which is the best song on the album. To me, Nas is one of the best rappers to ever come thru hip hop. And with being great, you will get a lot of skepticism and hating. Well anyway this album ranks up there with his previous releases in terms of playability. Yea sure he is losing some of his charisma on the mic but that is only cus he is getting older. And like his other albums he is either hit or miss on some songs.

For example the Intro to this album is one of the best intros I have ever heard with excerpts from some of his best songs pieced together. Great Way to start. NY. State Of Mind is tight but not as compelling as the original, but it is still good.
Hate Me Now feat. Puffy is wack cus of the beat and the hook. The message is good in We Will Survive ( paid respects to Pac and B.I.G.) but that doesnt make it a good song and the same goes for I Want to Talk To You which is plain wack.

Songs that hit are the narrative Small World, Favor For A Favor- the hardcore Scarface collabo, Dr. Knockboot-the do's and don'ts, Life Is What You Make It.

The Timbaland Produced Aaliyah collabo is such a phenomenal song. Timbaland of course makes a great beat and the chorus by Aaliyah is butter. A Classic Track. The DJ Premier produced Nas Is Like is also classic braggadocio track. Undying Love which is one of the BEST story raps I have EVER heard in my life. Nas' words on this song make you feel you are next to him and part of the story. Through his verses you can sense and visualize the actions being taken which is a pure sign of a great storyteller.

To conclude, I believe Nas is a very consistent rapper and none of his albums are horrible. Out of the 4 albums this is my second favorite next to Illmatic and I definitely suggest you buy this album. Highly Recommended!!

Free Music Review: Classic
Hit: 5 Stars

Nas's I Am... is the only album of 1999 that I can truly call a Classic already, because it has all of the elements that you need for a really good album to be put together. Nas is one of the best rappers ever to come out ever, and with Illmatic he solidified his spot as an artist who captured everyones heart and soul with just one album.

Now I Know that It Was Written dissapointed some...including me, but it is hard to have a follow up album that lives up to what Illmatic was. It Was Written was a very good album as well though.

But I Am... soars above the plateau of It Was Written by a lot. I Am... returns Nas to the form from which he was on Illmatic. Cuts like "Nas Is Like" show Nas at his best, with some of the most amazing metaphors put together on one song ever. "We Will Survive" is a really amazing song where he extends his love to The Notorious B.I.G. and 2pac in his own little way. It's got a catchy hook, which was sampled but it is just cool as ever. "Hate Me Now" w/Puff Daddy brought this album to the commercial heads, and I'd say it was a good song to put out on MTV and really promote because it was really good. "N.Y. State of Mind Pt. II" was a nice second coming of his classic on Illmatic. This was one of the points that made it seem like you were back in the days of Illmatic. It started off the album nicely.

There weren't many guest spots, but when Scarface comes on for "Favor For A Favor" and DMX appears for "Life Is What You Make It", it makes for 2 of the tightest tracks on the album. The most solid section of the album is the middle where "Ghetto Prisoners", "You Won't See Me Tonight", "I Want To Talk To You" and "Dr. Knockboot" are. The album really has no downfalls and you can listen to it all the way through over and over again. Truly a classic.

Free Music Review: KING NAS- Mr. Nasir Jones 3rd solo release, I AM, is da bomb
Hit: 5 Stars

Without a doubt, Nasir's junior album, I AM, has got to be a hip-hop masterpiece. Mr. Jones is very intelligent just in case people couldn't tell from his first two albums. This man is a true poet, and you can really tell by listening to some of the cuts off this album. His first single, "Nas Is Like..." should be found in hip-hop's collection of dope poetry. I'm serious, this brother is really deep. Then he shows his softer side in songs like "You Won't See Me Tonight", which features Aaliyah. This song happens to be my 2nd favorite song on the album. The beat is bangin and it's just an all around dope track. Of course my favorite song would be "Hate Me Now", his smash hit that he did with Puff Daddy. The hook is too wild, "You can hate me now, but I won't stop now." is the perfect response for jealous people who want to try and bring you down cause you on top and they not. Personally, I think he deserved an MTV Music Award for Best Rap Video, but I guess it was good that he was at least nominated. I have been a Nas fan ever since the ILLMATIC days. I remember the Nasty Nas who dropped raw hard tracks that really made you think. Now he's known as Esco and I think he's still the same only more wiser and smarter. This 26 year old Queensbridge MC is taking over the world. I think he has been overlooked for some time now, and I think these past 3 years have really made people take notice. They starting to recognize his talent and appreciate his contribution to the entire hip-hop world. As his new 4th album release, NASTRADAMUS, is preparing to drop, I am greatly anticipating what Nas has to say this time around. This is one brotha who you don't want to step to on the mic. Let's hope Nas continues to drop the science like only he can. I wouldn't expect anything less from my number one favorite rap artist.

Free Music Review: AND HE WILL REIGN AS KING FOREVER
Hit: 5 Stars

I have grown consistently proud of NAS who is both a great poet and deserves the title "THE BEST RAPPER/Poet EVER" What makes Nas so real is the fact that he has grown so much. With each album he shows you another side of NAS. People consistently will say Nas is not the same, he was better on ILLMATIC. When ILLMATIC came out he was still a child. He could only rap about the projects and things having to do with the projects because that is all he knew, but times have changed and he is no longer living in poverty. Any man that has been poor and becomes rich and still has his mind on the streets and on the corners he is not a man but a fool! It is even more inspiring that you can see somebody come from a rough life and grow and have so much wisdom and truth to his words. All the songs were so Hype on this Album, New York State of Mind 2, You can Hate Me Now (one of the greatest songs, videos, music composition ever) KISSING, ... (well like i said all of them) were great. People get caught up in beats which is fine because the beats are straight but he is a poet can you hear and comprehend the words and their meaning. This is a great follow up album because it's real and NAS seems so real. Even on ILLMATIC he made it known he was trying to come up he did not want to hustle forever and now that is all people want to remember him for .. being NASTY. The concepts for all his albums are great from BOY, to MAN, to KING, to PROPHET (NASTRADAMUS). I think it is ingenius. Those are real life changes from a mental state and in some since physical. This album was terrific and if you are open minded and no how to actually process a thought you will love not only this album but all his album and the transformation that takes place in all of the albums for this magnificent person, artist, KING ... forever; NAS!

Free Music Review: Nas- I Am...
Hit: 5 Stars

Nas (Nasir Jones) 3rd LP "I Am..." (1999) came out after a three year break by Nas following his first two albums, I was really happy when this came out as I had been waiting for a Nas album for a long time, and in 99 I had this album on regular rotation. Nas uses reliable production getting tracks from L.E.S., Trackmasters, Timbland and two tracks from DJ Premier- in my opinion the best producer out. Guest appearances from from DMX, Aaliyah, Puff Daddy and Scarface. DJ Premier produced "New York State of Mind, Pt. 2" starts the album strong, a great track like the original. The powerful "Hate Me Now" feat. Puff Daddy follows, the booming beat and Nas lyrics on this are excellent. Even Puffy the shiny suit man (I think of Diddy as more of a CEO then a rapper) provides a solid background chorus. Scarface drops in for the collabration track "Favor for a Favor", I like NY/Texas connection. Nas pays his respects to the late greats: 2pac and Notorious B.I.G. on "We Will Survive" and though he may not have had greatest relationship with them I think this is a genuine tribute. Nas talks about politics, religion, death, jail and poverty on "Ghetto Prisoners". "You Won't See Me Tonight" feat. Aalyiah (R.I.P.) is a good rap/r&b collab. Right around the time this album came out, the movie Belly which stars Nas and DMX came out so it makes sense that X drops in for "Life is what You Make It". "Nas Is Like" is another standout track, Premo provides a dope beat and Nas drops some memorable lines. Sad sounding R. Kelly background vocals are used on the decent laid back "K-I-S-S-I-N-G", where Nas talks to a special lady. Album finishes with "Undying Love" a narrative about finding out ones love is cheating, and the tragedy that follows. I enjoyed "I Am..." and recommend it as an album for the collection.
