Free Music Review: nas: the king of NY

This album is in my opinion one of the best albums of whole 1999 (if not the best).The album starts very good with the "album intro" which is a mix of all his past songs from past albums(perfectly mixed by dj premier) after this song comes the great follow-up to "Ny state of mind pt. 1", i'm sure that pt.2 is almost that great as pt.1 then the radio-hit "hate me now(feat. puff daddy)" comes up with a great beat and great lyrics. "Small world" is probably one of his greatest lyrical songs after this songs comes a song with one of the best beats of the whole album "favor for a favor(feat. scarface)". "We will survive" shows how much respect Nas has for other rappers (even for tupac who hated him). "Ghetto prisoners" takes you with it for a travel in wath happens in the QB-projects, "you won't see me tonight(feat. aaliyah) is a great song but it took him to the commercial hiphop side (like on Nastradamus), "i wan't to talk to you" tells about Nas seeing the president and telling him about the many problems in America. "Dr. knockboot" is probably the worst song on the album (but it's not even bad!!), i don't know why everybody hates "life's what you make it" i think it's a good song (even DMX raps good on the song!!). "Big things" is a song where Nas rap's too fast (he isn't good at it he should not havee done it) but overall it's good, "nas is like" is great, Nas raps at his best over dj premier beats (nice lyrics too). "K-I-SS-I-N-G" is a song i don't like so much (the beat s***s) but it's listenable. "Money is my b***h" has a great beat but less good lyrics (still great). And then we've come to the last and one of the greatest songs "undying love" which has a great story. Buy this cd, even if you aren't a Nas fan, you'll love it (i recommend also all other Nas albums)Free Music Review: 5 Star State of Mind

Before I start, I just want to say that "Illmatic" isa classic rap album if there ever was one. For those people whoaren't too big on "It Was Written," listen to it a little bit at a time, and you'll find your way back. Anyhow, "I Am" is another classic in the book of Nas. I'm not going to say which songs are my favorite, because I love them all. Well, if you think he's gone commercial or has lost hold of his roots, listen to "We Will Survive." The man has heart, and it really shows in that songs. In the same letter-writing style of "One Love," he eulogizes two other great rappers who were at times criticized for their creative efforts. Do I have to tell you that he's talking about Pac and Biggie? To those people who don't like "Dr. Knockboot," we all know that you are bouncing to it. It's like he said in "The Source," in that it's supposed to be a party type song. He's constantly taking risks, and branching out, because he has the necessary skills to maintain himself. If he could come up with "Illmatic"(not knocking "It Was Written"), the man obviously has great talent. Like I said, he's just branching out and doing different things with it. But he's keeping it real. And that is the sign of a true artist, in any genre. Nas is like, tight no matter what he does. He's good at the street tales, gangsta stories, relationship rap. Take heed at what he says in "Nas Is Like"(and "It Ain't Hard to Tell" to my fellow "Illmatic" heads), "MY POETRY'S DEEP, I NEVER FAIL" Buy it!!! This is the Third album by Nas and it is the 6th Nas CD I purchase and of course the Lyricism even thought it is more mainstream is only beat by the absolute brilliance of illmatic.This CD is Lyrically brilliant and is knowledged as so on every source this is more mature Nas.What great Lyrics no whrere near illmatic but what is nothing still a good album2.N.Y.State of Mind-Not Pt one but still great 10/10

4.Small World-This one is also very tight a little weird 8/10

From Illmatic to I AM every album has a message,every lyric means something and you learn from Nas, I don't want to hear any comparisons to any other rapper (especially simple ass Jay-z), the only rapper who can be compared is Rakim. Nas has done a song with everybody since Illmatic peep his track record. songs with Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Slick Rick, Kool G Rap, 3rd base, Large professor, Missy Elliot, Puffy,Mary J Blige, Allure , R Kelly, DMX, Scarface,Foxy, Lauryn,AZ,Noriega,Dr.Dre, Jermaine Dupree, Timberland,Kid Capri,DJ Clue and list goes on. Name 1 artist in the history of Rap whose done this many songs with this many people multiple times(R Kelly,Mary, Dre, Puffy).And what about his classic versus. Verbal Intercourse (Reakwon's Album), Eye for an Eye (Mobb Deeps album), Fast Life (G-Raps album) It's mine (Mobb Deeps album) And dam near all of these versus have been given rhyme of the month or year in source. Not hatin but out of Jay-Z and Biggie none of them have had more rhymes of the month and none rhyme of the year like Esco! I'm telling everybody check the credits, he's the best without the power house!(Biggie had puff)(Jay-z has Russell) When it's all said and done I gaurantee he'll be given awards for longevity and success as rap's author, Because like he said"I'm a poor man's dream, a thug poet!, live it, I write down, and watch it blow up! ya'll know what I'm like Nastradamus in ya system every night Now!!!! Nas delivers again as Nas Escobar. This album may have been more anticipated than It Was Written since it was his first solo effort in 33 months. Supposed to be a double cd but the bootleggers made him switch that. A few good guest appearances by Puff Daddy, R. Kelly & Aaliyah (R.I.P.) and 2 electrifying bangers with DMX & Scarface and a smash hit produced by DJ Premier give the album all it needs to be another satisfying performance from Nas. Production is great as well, L.E.S. did 5 songs, DJ Premier, Poke & Tone, and Alvin West each did 2 songs, and Pretty Boy, Nasheim Myrick Dame Grease and Timbaland each did 1 song. It has 3 classics, 3 neatr classics, 1 ok song, 1 I skip and the other are good. Amust have rap album.
