Free Music Notes for Ophelia

Free Music Review: Gotta Buy, it is not a plea, it is a need!
Hit: 5 Stars

The wings of birds is still not as free as this album is with lyrics composed of truth and reality. Natalie Merchant defiently from the sounds of this album immersed herself into the creative process and she has reaped in the awards. The songs, Ophelia, Life is Sweet, Kind and Generous, My Skin, Break your Heart, Thick as Thieves, and The Living twists the listener's ear into sensing the whole story in front and behind them. Complex lyrics to Thick as Thieves leaves the listener feeling complete, but confused. A nice confusion that we do not mind, for it is sweet like her voice. We know that we can understand and we hold no ignorance to these words. Her haunting melodies complete these songs and I say, it's a victory for Natalie Merchant's sophmore solo album.

Free Music Review: Natalie the Poetess, Goddess and Great Song Writer!
Hit: 5 Stars

Ophelia is a master piece and one of the best CDs of pop music till today. Ophelia is not everyone, because is profound and deserves to be understand and absorb into your soul. The poetess Natalie sings her poems with Goddess voice and envolves us with her sould and makes us one of children. Listen to Natalie you will understand that CDs likes the ones from Madonna,Britney and others should be trashed. Ladies like Natalie, Cyndi Lauper and Tracy Chapman give more seriousness to the commercial Yankee music. The Goddess have the Latin blood, because from her name and last name you can see she if of French origin. French is one of the Latin languages and one of the Latin cultures. The is why she is so profound and great poetess. Buy this CD and you will love it!!!!!!

Free Music Review: An album to keep and treasure
Hit: 5 Stars

This one is a keeper; I think of it whenever the time honored question comes up as to what I would bring to a desert island. Anything but pretentious and gloomy Natalie is an inspired singer/songwriter with an angelic voice that haunts and a knack for making personal observations come across as universal truths relatable to any listener who is tired of the shrieking divas ala Mariah, Whitney,Celine and the odious, overmarketed J.Lo. This album is soulful without being overbearing and sad only in so far as depth of feeling is bound to be heavy. Life is Sweet is my favorite track and has become almost something of a personal anthem. If Natalie is performing in a town near you take the time to see her: in live performances she is accomplished, graceful and memorable.

Free Music Review: How can you not like this album?
Hit: 5 Stars

This album has been hailed as depressing. NO! THis album is uplifting to me because she talks about the human condition. sure, it isn't true blue, but it speaks of a way of improvement in the human soul and in our societal values. I believe Natalie Merchant is not half as popular as she should be for the work and beauty she puts out. Another thing is this album has been said to be "gothic". I am putting that word in quotation marks because that is so false. Ridiculously untrue. Natalie merchant is the artist that I think is the best influence. One more hting that I think should be mentioned...the album is completely clean. There is no gratuitous violence, sexuality, or excessive bd language. This is one of the most perfect Cd's I know of.

Free Music Review: An delight to the ears of the music enthusiast.
Hit: 5 Stars

Anyone with good taste and a passion for harmonious vocals and impressive instrumentals will love this album. These songs are well written and will draw the willing listener into the realm of her music. If you're not certain by the end of the album that her heart was poured out through her vocal cords, then you need to listen to it again because you missed something. I had the pleasure of seeing her perform at the Lilith Fair recently, and I think her performance far exceeded Sarah McLachlan's (and Sarah was wonderful). In fact, a testament to her sincerity was that she actually started crying during her performance of Life Is Sweet. My personal favorites are (in order) Thick As Thieves, Ophelia, and Life Is Sweet.
