Free Music Notes for Pocketful of SunshineFree Music Review: A Strong Pop Effort... Hit: 4 StarsI knew about Natasha from her first album, which I've yet to buy. But,bought this one for whatever reason and was not disappointed.I'm a fan of clever pop and this one falls under that category.Pocketful of Sunshine,Love Like This,Say It Again,Backyard and Not Givin' Up highlight this effort. It has a fine mix of upbeat pop and slower ballads.I would guess if you bought her first effort, you should get this one for sure. I will shortly.Than I can compare. But for now,I will enjoy the soft and relaxing sounds of this effort.A solid 4 for strong pop album.
Free Music Review: Pocketful of Sunshine Hit: 2 StarsAs often happens, the follow up to the last album is disappointing, in that it lacks the freshness and originality of her previous hit. It's moderately good, but not a purchase I would recommend. I would have been content hearing the singles on the radio occassionally.
Free Music Review: Sunshine In All Its Glory Hit: 4 StarsNatasha is back, with a whole masterpiece of sunbeams and blue skies trailing behind her. Pocketful of Sunshine kicks off beautifully with "Put Your Arms Around Me," rhymthically jazzy and sunshine-brilliant. The rest of the tracks follow in the same format: Smooth Rhythm and Blues with optimism and romance lacing Bedingfield's words. The lyrics are well written, compassionate, and catchy, a splendid follow-up to unwritten. It explores a variety of feelings, from the apphrehension of falling in love in "Who Knows," to the self-appreciation in "Freckles."
Sometimes the sunshine in the tracks gets a little overwhelming; moods change, and sometimes you need some different. Negative people may decide this album as unrealisticly sunny or sappy. However, I find this another excellent work from Bedingfield. I'll keep my sights optimistic for her next album!
Overall: 4.5
Free Music Review: Confirmed Talent!!!! Hit: 5 StarsSince Unwritten, I have been in love with her music. This CD just confirms how wonderful and talented she is!!!
Free Music Review: This half panders to a US audience, the rest is the much better N.B. Hit: 2 StarsThis is probably the best example I've seen lately of the record companies feeling that they know better than the artist, and they're so wrong. Last year, Bedingfield release the album N.B. in the UK and elsewhere, and you had to get the import if you wanted it. As with Unwritten, the album was quirky but great pop music that stood out from cloned crap all over US radio. You might need to shell out a couple of extra bucks for that CD, but it's worth it.
Six of the tracks on this album are from N.B., and the rest are over-produced songs that are made to sound like things you've already heard. The songs missing, like "I Wanna Have Your Babies" and "How Do You Do?" are so much more reflective of the style and substance that she's capable of. I guess some jerk in New York thinks otherwise.
Pop music hasn't been good in years, and it saddens me that someone comes along to make it interesting, only to be short circuited by the record companies. This album is half of what it could be.
