Cons: I love Ne-Yo's voice and his style. But while listening to this album, I couldn't help but think of most of the songs as filler tracks. Nothing was wrong with any of them but all but two were songs I would pass up in a heartbeat. Nothing about them was exciting, although his voice was soothing.
Pros: Everybody has had someone say something rude to them and they couldn't think of a good comeback, but afterwards, they thought "Oooh, I should've said that." Well, Ne-Yo put a stamp on comebacks with "Addicted." He said "You all think I'm a sex addict, well listen up" and that was the premise of this outstanding song. All that charisma, soul, and spunk belted out to let folks know not to underestimate him or think they know so much about him. And I'm not much of a blusher, but wooooow, "Say It" had my eyes popping open and dancing in my seat. Heard the saying about a man who can talk you right out of your clothes? Yes, this would be that song. Men everywhere, play this around your lady. See how quickly she melts.
These two songs made me want the album. I have played them constantly and like them just as much as "Stay," one of my favorite songs ever.
Updates: I watched the video for "Do You" and suddenly loved this song. Sometimes it really pays to put a video out because the listener can see visually what the artist envisions on audio. The more I listen to the songs on this album, the more I like them. "Stay" and "Addicted" will forever be my jams and I ordered those immediately, but the rest of this album is starting to be more attractive to me. On top of that, the making of "Do You" once again proves that Ne-Yo wears his charisma on his sleeve. I can't wait to see him live!
