If you are a Neil Diamond fan then this is a must have album. Diamond shows his many talent on this one album. Just about every song on the album was written by him. The cover shows Neil Diamond in his younger years with long hair. It really is one of those albums you can listen to over and over again and still come back for more. Any fan of Neil Diamond would be foolish not to make this a part of their collection of the best of Neil Diamond. If you like Neil Diamond this album will not disappoint you.

I think Neil Diamond is not given the recognition he deserves as a singer/artist. His voice is better than many more popular singers out there yet he is often overlooked. "Hot August Night" pulls together the best of his work and the fact that it's live adds an extra "punch".If you thought Neil's work was limited to "You don't Bring Me Flowers", think again. There's some great rock 'n roll on this album and you may find yourself surprised by the versatility of his voice.

I absolutely LOVE this CD... It is a must have for any Neil Diamond fan. Many years ago I had this on 8-track (yeah THAT long ago, and then on cassette and once more on CD, but my grandson's got hold of it, and being the pre-schoolers that they are, and I needed a new one. It is fabulous. I just crank it up in the car, and I feel that I'm at one of his concerts. My children grew up listening to this in the 80's, and they can sing every song. We were sitting off the coast of Iran in 1979-1980 onboard the USS Nimitz, a Friend of mine offered me a tape to listen to in the computer room. The tape was Hot August Night by Neil Diamond, I asked my friend Who Neil Diamond was and if the tape was any Good. My friend said listen to it and tell him what I thought, I listened, Ever since I've been a Neil Diamond Fan. Excellent concert which was perfectly recorded and produced (only a few years after Beatles stopped touring, if you've ever "heard" those concerts).
While singing with the same charisma that he's since become known for, Neil Diamond is surprisingly shy and very polite as he speaks in between numbers. "Crying in your pretzals" is a surprise favorite.
This is the album which propelled Neil Diamond from a singer/songwriter to SuperStardom!
