Free Music Notes for 7 Worlds Collide - Live At The St. James

Free Music Review: Simply Wonderful
Hit: 5 Stars

This album, only made better by first seeing the video, has been the only thing in my CD player for the last 2 months. Despite bringing together all these great talents for a rapid set of rehearsals, the final concerts are very coherent and catchy. Just high quality song after high quality song done with a great vibe from each and every member. I enjoy it when people at the top of their game get together, share ideas, influence and inspire each other and demonstrate it in a recording. That's what this is and it just gives you a great feeling about how music can enrich peoples lives.

Free Music Review: A Gem
Hit: 5 Stars

It's really difficult to pick out a favorite here. Neil Finn's mastery of melody brings dozens of smiles to my face on this one. But Anytime, She Will Have Her Way, There is a Light that Never Goes Out, Angel's Heap are standouts. Edible Flowers is incredible. This is a wonderfully engineered and performed live recording. You really wish you would have been there, as you feel the passion of all the artists involved. Neil and Tim Finn once again remind me of how much they have contributed to pop music throughout their prolific careers.

Free Music Review: Long Live Neil Finn!
Hit: 5 Stars

I am not a big fan of live albums but this one is a standout. You just can't miss with a line-up made of Neil & Tim Finn, Johnny Marr, Lisa Germano and the Radiohead guys. Like most of the reviewers, I believe that the cover of The Smith's There is a Light That Never Goes Out is one of the highlights of the album.
Now, if they could just release One Nil in North American, I would be in heaven...

Free Music Review: Neil Finn- Experimenting
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is one of Neil's best. He combines with well known musicians such as Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Radiohead'd Ed O'Brien and Phil Selway, among others, to produce an awesome mix of tunes from hard rock to the soft ballads. Neil combines the old classics from Split Enz and Crowded House with some new material to get a perfect mix that any rock lover will enjoy.
Thoroughly recommend it!

Free Music Review: One huge surprise.
Hit: 5 Stars

It was absolutely worth the price of this CD to find out that my favorite Split Enz song of all time, "Take A Walk," is also quite obviously Eddie Vedder's! His live version here does not eclipse Neil Finn's original, but it's very apparent he's thrilled to be singing it (with Finn on harmony vocal). Who knew Vedder had such excellent taste? I thought he was obsessed with Pete Townshend!
