neil finn has to be one of the most amazing songsmiths in the world, while i have always admired his work , one nil has just cemented my admiration for him, his lyrics are so powerful and his voice full of emotion that it is very hard to find a flaw in this album , because there is none it is perfect, he uses backup artists very well including son liam on "hole in the ice" and wife sharon on the beautiful "wherever you are" and the spine tingling "last to know" plus of course the talents of sheryl crow . All these songs are brilliantly written and beautifully sung , if you liked try whistiling this you'll love one nil.Free Music Review: ONE FOR ALL--NEIL FINN AT HIS BEST!

All I can say is that this is a must for any one who enjoys a great singer songwriter...but to categorize Neil Finn as just that, would understatement his talents. He is more than that. Finn is a tremendously gifted writer of the last twenty years and these new songs show that he is worthy a place in the upper echelons of rock with the likes of Paul McCartney, another musician who crafts songs that are catchy, romantic, and atmospheric.
Neil Finn works with top notch musicians, and they bring out the best in these songs on this album. I also recommend his live SEVEN WORLDS COLLIDE DVD AND CD--BUY IT!

While I enjoyed "Try Whistling This", this album is some of the finest songwriting (even compared to Finn's CH and Finn Brothers work) that I've ever heard. A clear tribute to his wife Sharon, there are 7-8 unforgettable tracks (best: "Rest of the Day Off", "Last to Know", "Turn and Run") and the remainder are strong as well. Sheryl Crow appears in fine voice; just a great, great album. My biggest fear is that limited US release won't give Neil the fame he very much deserves over here -Free Music Review: the best

I've had this disc for a while, but it only recently made its way into my car CD player. That's when I really listen. And oh, boy, did I listen.One late night after a party I just got zapped by 'Secret God', mesmerized by the dissonant harmonies that repeated over and over. And it's not even my favorite track - that would probably be 'Driving Me Mad'. But they're all great. Not a single skipper, as they say.
Finn is a great songwriter - I can't think of any better.

big crowded house, finn brothers fan and getting withdrawal shakes since it's been awhile they've done something. saw this other day and put in for listen at sound booth got my fix and you will too. the guy just writes damn good songs, beautiful right on lyrics and sweet rollicking melodies. much better than 'try whistling this' and yeah sheryll crow sings and plays abit, really nice pairing. this is what i call music. well worth even the extra dollars (for the import)
