Free Music Notes for Try Whistling ThisFree Music Review: I kinda like Neil Finn being "my little secret" Hit: 5 Stars
There have been many great things said about this Neil Finn release here, and they are well deserved. This is an outstanding collection of songs. The true definition of a great CD is how long it holds your interest until you become bored with it. This CD will without a doubt be played far more times than most CD's I have purchased over the last year, which is the best compliment I can give Neil Finn and "Try Whistling This".
Free Music Review: Another Collection of Tunes That Are *Finn-tastic* Hit: 5 Stars
Neil Finn's first solo album like most of his other work, takes several listens to appreciate it's depth and richness. In this case I hope he gets the attention long deserved for a well produced CD.This disk is somewhat of a departure from the Crowded House "pop" sound being a bit psychedelic and moody. However, I highly recommend this CD to Split Enz or House fans, or for that matter anyone interested in good quality tunes.
Free Music Review: Dont pass on this one !!! Hit: 5 Stars
This is one amazing CD !! I have been a Neil Finn & Crowded House fan for many, many years and have to admit "TWT" is on my Top List !! I have only listened to it twice now and can't remember the last time I had such an immediate attraction to new music. Similar to Crowded House, but with more atmosphere and creative songwriting. Many thanks to Neil for keeping his music fresh !! Dont pass on this CD !!
Free Music Review: Essential Hit: 5 Stars
Try Whistling This is a great album. Neil Finn is at his songcrafting peak with this, his first solo album, and Crowded House's last album, Together Alone. Every song is a good one on this album.
Neil has released two albums since, another solo and one with his brother Tim. But neither of these compares with Try Whistling This or Together Alone. If you like melodic pop with good wordsmithing this album is for you.
Free Music Review: Simply the best CD available today Hit: 5 Stars
After seeing his concert on this tour and not really knowing which Finn brother I was about to see, I was blown away by this performer's music. It's a combination of listening and feeling. I found myself being pulled by the melody and moving with the rhythm all the while entranced by the story: "I'll walk this earth like some unforgotten soldier". If you buy only one CD this year...buy this one.
