This is the album that got me into rock and roll, way back when. I went to see the movie, "Woodstock" with some friends. It was a double feature, and the opening flick was a movie called "The Strawberry Statement," which was about the Columbia University riots in the late 60's. In the soundtrack to "The Strawberry Statement" was Neil's "Down by the River." My life changed when I heard it. This was the first rock album I ever bought, and to this day it is one of my favorites. Neil has been through many changes - this is why he is still with us, as strong as ever - but this album captures the raw spirit of who Neil was, when rock was still idealistic and we thought we could change the world. This album is the anthem of a whole generation - fearless and lost, but hoping for the best.
