Free Music Notes for Greatest Hits

Free Music Review: well worth the money
Hit: 5 Stars

this cd flows very well, and includes anything the new fan could want in a Neil young collection. Neil young and his compatriots crosby, stills, and nash are finally getting the recognition they deserve. one of my favorite songs from the group, "ohio," is included on here, so this isn't only about neil young, just mostly about him. I would recommend getting the new greatest hits for crosby, stills, and nash, along with this album, and getting Deja Vu (his best known collaboration with the group, renamed CSNY) and getting Retrospective: the best of Buffalo Springfield, which is the band many of these guys were in early on. Then you will have a complete collection of the best work of these groups.

Free Music Review: good collection
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a very good collection of Neil Young and it's aboot time! The main grips I have is that songs such as "Powderfinger" "Words" "Buffalo Springfeild" or "Razor Love" didn't find their way on to this collection. Everyone has their ideas of what should go on a greatest hits collection and that's just mine. everything is debatable. Anyway, the absolute essentials are here with tracks like "Cinnamon Girl" "Heart of Gold" "Hey hey" "My My" and "Rock'n in the Free World" Not only are they essential Neil Young tracts but they're essential songs to the fabric of Rock and Roll. This collection is ideal for casual Neil fans, new comers to his music or just fans of classic rock. buy!

Free Music Review: Some hits and some album cuts
Hit: 5 Stars

While this is an excellent collection of some of Young's best work, it is not really a greatest hits collection. While it includes his biggest hits(Heart of Gold, Old Man, and Only Love Can Break Your Heart), it omits some of his other hits and includes songs that were never even released as singles. I am a bit surprised that they included both "Cowgirl in the Sand" and "Southern Man" on a single CD, since they are very similar musically. Of the two I always liked "Cowgirl" better, "Southern Man" is cliché ridden and perpetuates anti-southern stereotypes. All-in-all this is a solid collection for the casual Young fan.

Free Music Review: Neil Young legend
Hit: 5 Stars

What can I say that I haven't already said in my other review of Neil Young DVD live show? He is a master singer and songwriter. I never get tired of any of his performances, which is why I buy his works whenever I can. There is something about Neil's music that brings out the best in feelings when listening to his music. You're just glad to be alive, especially when watching his live show DVD that I recently rated. By the way, I have already watched his live show more times than I can remember and love it every time. You are one of the best Neil and I thank you for sharing your talent with us all!

Free Music Review: It is not enough, but a good start for beginners
Hit: 5 Stars

If you have never listened to old Neil, this is a good start. Of course there are quite a few titles missing (albums like Zuma and On the Beach are not represented here, so there are not jewels like "Cortez the killer" or "On the beach"), but some of the best songs are there. Of course, every fan has some favourites, these are just the most popular songs. The question is: in the age of downloadable songs what is the use of a compilation that any NEil fan can make on his own? Clearly the only possible target for this record is people who never heard Neil Young's albums, and to them I say "buy it"!
