Free Music Notes for Sugar Mountain-Live At Canterbury House 1968 (CD/DVD-A)Free Music Review: Classic Neil Young Acoustic Set! Hit: 5 Stars
If you enjoy any Neil Young acoustic performances, you'll love this CD. It is just Neil Young and his acoustic guitar in a very small venue on a Sunday evening. Before a lot of the songs he talks with the audience and gives great insights and funny antedotes about himself. You really feel like you get to know him. The music is fantastic! Hearing some of these songs done acoustic only for the first time just brought a smile to my face. For a recording done in 1968 the quality is excellent. It's crisp, clear and makes you feel like you're in the audience.
Free Music Review: Engaging Early Neil Classic Hit: 5 Stars
Neil is in top form in this intimate setting that sounds like it could have been recorded in a large living room. As a result he engages the audience in a very personal way, stopping on a couple of occasions to ask for requests. Highlights include Neil's introduction of an "oldie" which turns out to be the classic title tune "Sugar Mountain" and his version of the first Springfield single "Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing", originally performed by Richie Furay. Pay the extra $4.00 for the DVD--it's well worth the added price to get a piece of rock history.
Free Music Review: I was highly suprised Hit: 5 Stars
I can barely operate a computer yet alone print. Now that Amazon has spell check your going to see more reviews like mine. I was highly surprised When I found out I couldn't get High Definition Video on the DVD of a concert back in 1968 on their B/W TK 44 cameras with film back then. I just had to write and tell everyone how stupid I am. Now I'm going to go cry, over $14. bahhhhhh. I can't read either or I would haveknown what. "This 24/96khz audio track on this DVD has 256 times the resolution of a compact disc". That just means it's gay.
Free Music Review: Canterbury House - Neil Young Hit: 5 Stars
Excellent CD - Neil at his finest. Although this performance was prior to the time when Neil began playing harmonica the acoustic tracks played on this disc are nothing short of phenomenal. You can even hear him playing around with a new song - as he plays the opening lick to Winterlong before it was even written. It's interesting to see how things develop as he toys with them before they are completed. This disc is a must have even for the casual Neil Young listener as it covers most of his early work with Buf Spring and his solo career.
Free Music Review: Two Versions---I hate that Hit: 5 Stars
I've heard excerpts from each track on ITunes and this album is obviously a world-beater....
There is only one problem...the ITune's version includes a bonus track not on the CD: "I Am a Child (live)"...this is infuriating as I'd like to get the packaging and the DVD.
But "I Am a Child"....I hate to miss out on that...Maybe buy the CD and then that one song from ITunes?
Why can't they just give us everything in this one package?
Grrrrr!
