Free Music Notes for Sugar Mountain-Live At Canterbury House 1968 (CD/DVD-A)Free Music Review: Love this CD Hit: 5 Stars
I have not watched the DVD but I love the CD. I guess after a few dozen more listens I may get tired of hearing his tales about working at the bookstore, but I can tune that out in between songs :-). It's just so pure and beautiful and other than having to re-hear his stories, I do love hearing him talk, I feel like I know the young Neil a little better.
Free Music Review: For the Serious Neil Young Collector, Only Hit: 5 Stars
The most amazing aspect of this incredible and personal performance is to hear Neil sing "The Old Laughing Lady" in 1968 and then nearly 40 years later see him, again solo, but on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry performing it with Hank Williams' guitar, at the close of "Heart of Gold". An amazing journey with an even more amazing artist.
Free Music Review: Unknown gem Hit: 5 Stars
This is a gem of a live album. We get to hear what Neil sounded like post Buffalo Springfield. The album features acoustic versions of Neil's Springfield songs and songs from his at the time unreleased first album. There are also a couple of numbers that were not released for awhile later (Birds and Sugar Mountain). A+
Free Music Review: Young in his youth, giving his best. Hit: 5 Stars
An interesting and essential look at Neil Young during a rare point in his career. He had just left the Buffalo Springfield, and this is before he had shown the world just who Neil Young was. The music is great and it's easy to hear his innocence through his commentary between songs. A must have for every Neil Young fan.
Free Music Review: There is only one Neil! Hit: 5 Stars
It is a pleasure to listen to these songs from 1968, Neil is so real! He for sure is one of a kind.
I also enjoyed listening to Neil talking to the audience between the songs.
I can recommend this CD/DVD to all Neil Young fans and to everybody else as well, they might very well turn into fans!
