As a kid who grew up with the records "Harvest" and "Comes a Time" this record was a bit of a shock for me when I first heard it played on a college radio station. I have to admit once I bought the record I ended up playing it over and over for months and it always seemed to end too soon.
If you liked Neil Young's "Trans" then try "Time" by ELO, then maybe give Triumph's "Thunder Seven" a listen. And for those listeners who gravitate towards a more 'urban' style of music you can try "The New Zapp IV U" by Zapp.
Oooh! the '80s....so bad yet so good.

"Sample and Hold" was released just as music videos kicked into high gear -- novel, creative, interesting (though tailored for microscopic attention spans) and still relatively non-obscene. Given the song's lyrical content, they could have fashioned a superlative video for "Sample and Hold" -- but it turned out to be nothing but the plain old stage performance. And I'm certain if Neil ever reads this, his response to me would be: Try to imagine how little I care what you think.Free Music Review: Brave, Experimental, Daring

Just after listening to "Down by the River", one could believe Neil Young had a narrow creative scheme to follow. But in the 80's, a Golden Era for Rock Giants like Yes, Genesis and Rush, he decided to explore new sounds and therefore expand himself as an artist. I am one of the few lucky persons who owns this LP on vynil, bought in Italy the very same year it was released, and I hope things like this would come back soon!Free Music Review: Neil Online
