Free Music Review: One the Best Spanish Pop Albums 2009

I had been looking forward to listening to this album ever since I heard that Alex Cuba was collaborating heavily in this album. I thought that the idea was great given that both are based in British Columbia, Canada. There is something fantastic and surreal about an all Spanish album coming from Canada where Spanish is barely spoken. If you know them you will understand that both are highly accomplished, experimental, and genuine artists. Nelly has been involved in different types of genres since pretty well the beginning. Alex has been travelling Canada and the U.S. for many years and is a favourite of the CBC (a public radio station in Canada)and jazz festivals. Enough history...this Album has the potential to have many hits:
1-Manos Al Aire - #1 Hit in Latin America.
2-Mas - The closest to what Nelly has sounded in her past English albums.
3-Mi Plan - This song is very Alex Cuba. I really hope he finally gets noticed by a bigger audience.
4-Suenos - duet with Alejandro Fernandez. A nice tune - Alejandro fans will certainly like it.
5-Bajo Otra Luz - Once you hear this tune you know that these three (Julieta, La Mala & Nelly) will very likely work on another song sooner or later.
6-Vacacion - One of the weakest tracks, but island happy sounding with vallenato overtones.
7-Suficiente Tiempo - Timbalish and very Nelly and Alex Cuba...very hyptonizing grooves. Nice dance track.
8-Fuerte - Flamenco and rumba inspired duet with Concha Buika, who is a Spanish singer of African descent and who grew up along with gypsies in Mallorca.
9- Silencio - Don't like this song, but maybe because I'm not into Mr. Groban.
10-Como Lluvia - Romantic and poetically Juan Luis Guerra ie "...y me despierto con el concierto de tu cabello en el mio." There's pure chemistry here.
11- Felix Cumpleanos - Interesting thoughs of a Birthday, after the party, I guess.
That's it. I love this album. I hope you do too.

After the huge success of her critically acclaimed album "Loose" which allowed her to be the number 1 artist in global sales in 2007, Nelly decides to do her musical dream of making her first full Spanish language album.She had done many successful collaborations with artists all over the world in all different genres, but the collaborations with the Latin artists left her with this huge desire of expressing herself in this language, and that is how this new album was born.
"Mi Plan" (My plan) is Nelly's 4th studio album which reflects once again her artistry, diversity and the uniqueness of everything which she writes. The album, as all her albums, is written and co-produced by her in collaboration with top writers and producers, as well as young new talent she believes in. She doesn't feel this is a "Latin Album", she says that this is just her soul speaking in Spanish, as all her albums "just music for the world". Music is a universal language and in this album she has brought the world together, working with musicians, writers and producers from all over the globe.
The album is filled with fresh, enthusiastic, fun, freeing, unique, strong and passionate songs that reflect the great moment that Nelly is currently experiencing.
The first single of this album, "Manos al Aire" (Hands in the air or I surrender), is a mid-tempo song that brings you in faster than you can understand to what she is trying to tell her loved one. The tip of an iceberg that will outlive the barrier of language, culture and time!
