Free Music Notes for On Avery IslandFree Music Review: Even better than the next...... Hit: 5 Stars
I'm sure, like many other listeners, that I heard this after being blown away by Aeroplane. While this is less polished (?less "produced") than its sucessor, I think the raw emotional energy here is more powerful. Don't get me wrong, I think Aeroplane is probably a better starting place. It's just that once you've gotten used to the sound collage and inside Jeff's head, you will need to listen to this CD.......many, many times.
Free Music Review: Solid sound throughout this baby Hit: 5 Stars
This is an album I just "heard" for the first time about a month ago. At first I really liked it,because of how it made me feel, and because it reminded me of one of my favorite bands, Weezer. Then just recently I sat down and actually listened to this piece of work. True art. This mans voice is stunning, and the sounds work very very well with the overall feeling of the CD. Avery Island is excellent in every way.
Free Music Review: timeless Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of those original works of art that will never grow old. I write very few reviews, only the albums I feel are too good to miss. The music on this cd is lush and thick with fuzz and reverb. It is best listned to on a full range stereo or good headphones, playing it through a boombox will not do it justice. You have to be patient and really listen to it, this is not background music! Buy with confidence, enjoy!
Free Music Review: Troubled, troubling, wonderfully weird Hit: 5 Stars
Actually, *achingly* beautiful would be more to the point. The overwhelmingly powerful images of childhood, paradise (both religious and personal)juxtaposed against the lo-fi hum that the band creates immediate classic. a deeply moving, personal cycle of longing and loss, noise and peace, wonder and wounds a really stunning album from a band with a downright frightening amount of talent.
Free Music Review: Better than Aeroplane Hit: 5 Stars
Sorry, I don't want to explain why this album is so great (maybe it's a personal thing) but just give this cohesive piece of art a try. Psychedelic production, complete and flowling from Song About Sex to Pree-Sisters, genious songwriting --- this is OK Computer's darker, uglier, acid-dropping cousin. This CD, and not Aeroplane, I hope will become a classic. (though Aeroplane is a good CD)
